At some point people should have agreed to disagree and left it at that, but instead it's all been kicked up again (and unnecessarily from my point of view). What is it around here that stops people accepting that others might have a difference of opinion? This is something they teach in primary school these days, I'd like to think we're all bigger and cleverer than that.
You might be surprised - not to say enlightened somewhat - by the politicking that's been going on behind the scenes. A big spike in it recently, but some of it has been going on for years. I think you only see one side (mainly my arguably poor reaction to it, for which I apologise) so you might be well advised to wait a little before taking a view.

Alan, some things I share your opinion on and others I don't but I do find it sort of odd that on one hand you're complaining people don't want to learn, then on the other you often attach some cynical comment or witty remark when you do choose to educate. Perhaps, therefore, that is why some people would rather stay ignorant? Not everyone wants to engage in a battle of wits and would just prefer a simple answer.
Careful, it's taken me years of practice to perfect this online persona.
But seriously, you make it sound as though I'm the only one who can answer their questions, and as if it's my obligation to answer comprehensively and immediately when they demand it. I'm damned if I do, and damned if I don't. Perhaps your sensibilities would be less offended if I were to refrain from any kind of emotion in my posts here? And you're apparently complaining about the odd "witty remark" too? Do you hold others on here to the same standard? How about the bright spark (well supported here, despite being a disaster on many levels) who - in one of his very first forum posts - deigned to call me a "****"? Are you a fan? I didn't see him get any admonishment. One of my 'worst' cases of misconduct (for which I was threatened, I kind you not) was to compare the rather cubic welded patching of a project car to Kryten's head. Who knew big burly blokes with 'tats' were so delicate, eh?
Some people just want to be spoon fed. They don't want to do their own research because they "don't care anyway" (yes, really!), but they expect service and they expect it now. And I have to say - of all the cars I've owned through the years, of all the old car owners I've come into contact with over the years - UK based Z owners have to be some of the least genned-up and switched on about their cars. Sometimes the ignorance about the most basic of facts is simply breathtaking. My default attitude to it - I'm sorry to say - is one of basic cynicism. Darwinism, basically. I've grown a pair of horns for self protection.
There are people in our 'community' who
are switched on, and there are also some who share my views. We are a pretty small group though.
