Well I took the green zed down to Jeff in mid-march for some niggling problems to be fixed, oil leak, ‘clunk’ in the transmission, noisy lifter and asked him to have a look at how bad the rust was that was starting to bubble through the rear quarter panels and especially some that had come to light when having the arches rolled for the Rota wheels. There was also some scuffing on the nearside rear where a tyre had blown and nearly come off the rim, and the paint had been scraped off the front nearside wing by a supermarket trolley. I’d also got the metal interior door lock thingy that I wanted him to fit.
Whist it was down there, two supposedly electric seats came up for offer and I contacted Mondo to retrim the seating, gaiters and steering wheel. When the seats arrived the passenger one was manual, so big thanks to Onslow on 300zx.co.uk for helping out with a spare electric passenger seat.

I also needed the corner of the bonnet straightening, by the hinge, after it had flown straight up back onto windscreen. This happened when having to use a battery pack to get the car home after the alternator failed, so the bonnet wouldn’t close. I was only doing 15mph and all was good until a bloody bus went past doing 40 mph and upset all the airflow and BAM! The bonnet flew right back against the windscreen.
I then got a 99 spec bumper, courtesy of Rata2ie on .co.uk. Delivered it to Jeff and he said give it to Guy when he does the bonnet and let him prep it and paint it
Well Jeff found the oil leaks and replaced the four cam end oil seals, the rear crank oil seal, and the clunk was solved with a new lightweight flywheel and clutch.
He took it up to Guy’s to do the bonnet and check out the rust and prep the bumper.
For those of you who remember Zedworld at the farm, Guy was in the first unit, always tinkering with old MGs and Sprites. He’s very old school, making all metal by hand, shaping it, curving it, and then fitting it.
I subsequently got a 99 spec Rear spoiler from Magnum on .co.uk.
This was delivered to Guy who took the original spoiler off and welded up the holes left and then queried what was the mounting position of the 99 spoiler ? Hence the posting last weekend and thanks a lot a Roobarb for helping out
