A trip North East

Took a 320-mile round trip to the North East today to meet up with club member Dale. His 260Z is off the road at the moment, but we got it started and backed it out of the garage. Could tell he is itching to get back in the driver's seat again, so after a nice spot of lunch and a beer at the local pub I let him drive mine back to his house. Reckon that should seal it! Expect he will have his repaired and MOT'd before you know it. Pic of the two cars attached. Nice meeting you, Dale.

Thanks Rob, and it was great to meet you too. Your car is absolutely stunning and many thanks for letting me have a spin, it really made me desperate to get mine back on the road so I think your plan has worked a treat!

Your enthusiasm for your car is an inspiration and a credit to the marque and this club, so hats off to you.

I hope that little fix we did cures your leak problem, but I guess only time will tell; fingers crossed. Maybe I'm not so defeatist after all, lol.

Loads of room, yeah. 6m x 5m :D. It's just a shame my talents are limited to make full use of the space. :(

First job is to go over the brakes to make sure they work and are safe. There's a fair bit of resistance on the drums. So much so that I don't need to leave the handbrake on or leave it gear.

Second job is to take it somewhere to check out the structure of the car and get them to weld anything that's required.

Then I can thing about the MOT and getting the car to a bodywork specialist to get rid of the bubbles of rust that are showing themselves.

I'm really aiming to just get it on the road and not worry about it being perfect. I just want to drive it again. ;)

Had the same experience with Riddler myself, including the 'swift half' in my local. Is the beer associated with your little leak problem Rob?

Nice to read this thread - members meeting and enjoying their common interest (and beer ).

See you at LakeZ in it then Dale ;)

There are a few places I can recommend up this neck of the woods for various bits of work.
I'd even come up myself with a boot full of tools if you need a hand.

Hoping to make the LakeZ event myself next year.
And just in case any of you don't know what a nice guy Dale is, in his garage he had various little scale models of 240/260Zs on a shelf - including this one which was exactly the same colour as my car. He insisted on giving it to me and would accept no payment.

Oh dear, someone's not happy. And he stretched his lead too!
In Football if someone abusively berates the referee they get a punishment IMO Rob Gaskin should have the points from at least the last three races deducted as we just can not be seen to allow this sort of behaviour in a club competition
