Le Mans Classic now 2022 ! Tickets.

I made it to Le Mans Classic in the 260Z (and back) - 2,000 miles covered. It didn't go through any oil, water or brake/clutch fluid. Averaged a smidge over 28 mpg as well, so really happy. Didn't see any Datsuns at the circuit but were only there for 1 day and a bit hectic! This is from one of...

    Refreshed the 240Z decals

Just a quick update on my rally 240Z. I removed the old decals and added more period ones. Happy with it now, especially after some important fixes, but time to move it on and a friend has decided to take it on and should be back being rallied properly again.

    Got these from Hamilton Motorsport.

Doesn’t start well, and runs bad.

Update time. After a few hours I’ve got it sorted, and running good. The 2 main problems were trusting the crank timing mark, and getting the 2 green wires from the dizzy the wrong way round. I assumed the latter didn’t matter, and tracing the wires should have be right. The new dizzy plate...

Doesn’t start well, and runs bad.

Spark plugs look okay, just slightly rich if anything. May take all out again and clean them. Haven’t tried easy start, but will have another play this week. I’ve disconnected the the mechanical pump and put in a new electric pump. When I bought the car it was running an electric pump feeding...

Doesn’t start well, and runs bad.

Been on this a while. A 1978 260Z which ran okay until I put into the garage, and 8 weeks later it started but ran rough. It’s always been a poor starter and taken a few seconds to get up to 6 cylinders running Anyway, decided to try to fix it. New plugs, plug leads, 280Z dizzy, ignition...

Getting ready for a track day at Castle Combe

Got a Range Rover with a tow bar, and bought a trailer but like driving my classics Actually feel better driving them than attached to a tow bar (weird I know). Trailering my classic Mini Cooper replica to a track day in June but just local.

Getting ready for a track day at Castle Combe

Shame paths not crossed. I’ve got a 300 mile journey to get there which will be horrendous I’m sure with a noisy rally car Fortunately the gearing isn’t too bad (65mph at 3,000 revs). I did a 300 mile trip to Goodwood last October in a 1954 TR2 so the 240Z should be okay

Tuesday the 18th unfortunately. It’s a Triumph day but I’m taking the Z instead

Dropped it by about 2 inches, and to be honest the fronts probably won’t go much lower but might settle once moved.

Put the TR4 wheels on (Revolutions) with Avon track tyres. I need to switch the tyres onto the newly painted Minilites.

Getting ready for a track day at Castle Combe

I bought at 240Z at the end of last year and booked up for a track day at Castle Combe in May! It’s a rally car so not entirely suited for track but making a few changes. I live in Northumberland so quite a journey down (and back as well). The car hadn’t been used for a few years, not since...
