    Optronic ignition

Yes, my trackday 240Z had Optronic ign. It worked well - no better than a 280ZX distributor though. I tried them both on the same day.

    370z airbag light

Found this online: 1. press start/stop button twice to put it in pre-ignition mode 2. wait a short duration for solid airbag light to go dark, indicating it will soon flash 3. instantly press start/stop to turn off completely before it has a chance to flash 4. wait 5 full seconds 5. repeat steps...

    370z airbag light

No, however I did remove the passenger seat in my 350 to enable me to collect some wheels. I searched the internet and discovered a sequence with the ignition switch and something else. So basically it can be done. I do have an early 370 manual on a CD. I'll have a look tomorrow. EDIT - looked...

SU carbs WILL work perfectly on my modified L28 and give DCOEs a run for their money!!!

My 2" SUs worked well. I suspect the big gain is at high revs with a hot cam, gas-flowed head and exhaust. The inlet manifold needs to be matched to the carbs of course.

Larger Anti Roll Bars - Needed for a road car?

Make sure your 'chassis' is strong where they mount - front and rear.

71 240Z - New battery connected the wrong way around

It should have a fusible link to protect the cabin wiring - that link is next to the starter. However I fear you will have damaged components in the engine bay - alternator, voltage regulator etc. Have a good look at the wiring for signs of melting.

260Z - over revving on gear change

I would make sure the linkage is free and works well over the full movement. I've had a situation where it can go too far (over centre). I suggest that you use more throttle when driving than when it's got no load (stationary). Is the return spring good? Carpet/soundproofing clear?

Relays also prevent high current through the switch even with no fault, especially with higher wattage lamps.

Sean, if someone new to Datsuns buys it they may not appreciate the work involved and neither may their chosen garage. Also are they going to check the gbox over or try it as is? Is the diff a good match for an S14? The S14 is a great upgrade I agree. Had 3 cars with it.

What did you do to your Z this week?

Hi Dale, that is an interesting photo. So is it a wall with windows?

What did you do to your Z this week?

Yes, I've done long trips in an S30 - brilliant cars. Are you coming to Donington?

    Evening from Glasgow

It amazes me how old these cars are. I went to California in 1977 and this car was outdated then by the 280Z. It seemed so long ago and now this car is going to start a new life over here. Modern cars are far better built these days but they will be scrapped much sooner due to the electronics...

It's a great car and the sort of car I would have been interested in a few years ago. My comments: LHD - not a big problem for a 'hobby' car (few miles) and often better to keep a car original. However in a RHD country it's not a strong selling point. Gearbox - selling a 240Z with a weak...
