    Exhaust Manifolds

OK the ad is old but I'll ask anyway. I'm interested in a manifold for 280ZX (square port, N42). Possibly one of yours suits (nearest one in the photo?). If so and still available please let me know. Cheers

    Exhaust ports

Perhaps. I've no idea what the variuos gas path lengths might be.

    Exhaust ports

OK I give in! I have in mind the N42 cylinder head with "square" exhaust ports (280ZX). Why are the two middle exhaust ports in the cylinder head (pots 3 and 4) bigger than the other exhaust ports? Cheers

Distributor Vacuum pipe to carb location

Thanks Jon. My HIF 6's have several orifices additional to the main jet in the bore of the body. I've researched for explanation of the various orifices but unsuccessfully. I suspect most/ some these orifices are to do with cleaner fuel emissions, which I'm only marginally interested in as...

Distributor Vacuum pipe to carb location

The carbs have no nipples. Only thing that might relate is the tiny hole visible to the left of a larger hole both in alignment with bottom edge of the butterfly (photo 2). I've no idea what the larger hole is for. Have you? That tiny hole is currently blanked off but a vacuum connection...

Distributor Vacuum pipe to carb location

I have 280ZX running twin SU carbs, HFI 6 type, with standard 280ZX dizzy (E12-80 Module). Need to know the best place at the carb/ manifold/ wherever to connect the dizzy vacuum pipe and have searched "tinternet" but now more confused than ever. Some say the take off position can be...

    280ZX dizzy caps

Shall be grateful if someone will tell me if all the Z dizzy caps are interchangeable. In particular are any of them interchangeable with the ZX dizzy? Thanks.

    Ignition module (E12-80)

Starting does seem to get progressively poorer after a few turns (battery is in good charge).

    Ignition module (E12-80)

Drove to the garage and engine turned on/ off several times during the MOT, then it simply gave up.

    Ignition module (E12-80)

Hi Huw. Symptoms:- Engine runs perfectly for a few seconds ................. then dies! Plenty of fuel in carbs. Electric fuel pump working perfectly and fuel pressure is regulated for carbs at 3psi by Filter King. Pulled a lead, put a plug on it and it sparks when earthed. Coil works fine...

    Ignition module (E12-80)

Thanks Huw and Yep! 350 ohm! Datsun bible says approx 400 so I'm taking 350 as OK as there must be continuity.

    Ignition module (E12-80)

Thank you gentlemen for your help but still banging my head on the wall with this one! I replaced the ignition unit with a second hand one but still no joy. Possibly the original and second hand ones are both faulty, or the problem lays elsewhere. Best way to check my units would be to try...

After a bit of searching I've found free online access to 280ZX workshop manuals and enclose the link:- http://www.xenonzcar.com/s130/fsm.php There may be others, like me, who may find it useful.
