What did you do to your Z this week?

finally managed to install my upgraded OEM cassette player which now has AM, FM, DAB, Bluetooth, USB and Aux inputs. I had forgotten what a pain it is to remove and reinstall the lower console
Nice job, who did the conversion for you?

I had a guy called Adrian James (Regies radios) do it for me, I did quite a lot of research as I wanted the Aurora designs kit in it, and also wanted the autotune function still to work.

So went to each of the UK suppliers. Costs varied wildly from £650 to £1550 for the same equipment inside.

I’d got new carpets made for my 280,
Grey to match the seats. Fitted them over the weekend. Happy with them

Oh & I’ve got a black set of carpets about 5 years old from z-source in USA , not much wear, will look ok if fitted with underlay & glued.
And they’re free too a 280zx owner who can use them, pick-up or you pay for postage,
Let me know 👍

Very nice. Could I ask the name of the company who made them? My rear deck area carpets are terrible, thin and unravelled edges.

Thanks, they’re really good quality, from a small firm near Wigan called Coverdale, they make their own carpet and will copy any design, they have templates for a lot of cars as well, if you can’t find them just ask me & I’ll give you the details

I think I have used them for campervan carpet in the past. I'll check them out. Cheers for that

Yeah Steve Im not a lover of 5he faux leather look, looks cheap to me and doesn’t suit the Z
I love the edge trim, the carpet I got from z source in USA had sewn edging but looked tatty quick, each to their own,
some people have criticised the wheels I had made from works, Japan & tyre choice but again I love them. Isn’t that what makes all our cars slightly different and more interesting 👍

Cheers Huw 👍 are you going to Oulton park at the end of the month? It’d be nice to see another 280, I’m going with my son, he’s in his 120A f11 coupe so we’re displaying in the individual display, the oulton organisers seemed like they were being a bit funny about the zclub stand because his isn’t a z & I couldn’t be arsed going back & forth with them.

Just come find us on the hill and join the club stand. Ignore the organisers/marshals’ instructions. They mostly tend to be fairly lax on the day anyway. For example, last year, I brought my Celica on the second day using the pass for my Z. No one gave it a second look.

When you get to the gate where they either send you left across the field to the clubs on the hill or straight on along the gravel track (which might be where individual displays go) just turn through the gate like you know where you are going. If they do send you straight on, either cut left across the field a bit further down, or come up from the bottom of the hill. We’ll be waiting! ;)
