is that the 123 ignition shop??
No - factory.
This seems strange to me as everyone I know that uses one , ( including a few non-Datsun owners) are happy with them , and when I have emailed the guy in Holland he's been very helpful and responded pretty quickly.

I find people tend to moan a lot on the internet but don't sing praises as much theses days..
We had a car break down on the way back from Spa Classic - it was the new 123 at fault. Another guy had terrible problems previously and the staff in Holland couldn't have cared less.

Best buiy locally and so IF there is any problem, the local shop can handle it.

Any further info what exactly failed? I'm also thinking about getting a 123. On the other hand, my ZX unit works flawlessly and is really realiable.

Did you find out what had failed ? or the symptoms? be good to know for future reference

like you said above if you can buy off another distributor that may be the best option now as you could deal with them if you have a problem and just get a replacement,

I think there still the best option , I was advised by my dyno guy to get my 280zx dizzy recurved and at the same time I was gonna get it refurbished and this cost was close to the new 123 and I can change the curve myself now when ever i want ,

I bought my 123distributor from www.scparts.co.uk . They sell parts for British cars, mainly Jaguar but if you look a little harder you will find the Datsun distributor on their website.

I am happy with my 123distributor. Also bought a better quality cap and kept the original as a spare. I once contacted the Netherlands with a question and they responded pretty quickly

Thanks, I saw SC sell them but then saw the awful reviews so decided not to buy from them. Did you buy a Bosch cap?

distributor-less (ignition) is also an option.
Had I have had the time (and have known better prior to talking with Jon on the subject) then I’d have gone this route. Nothing to do with cost, purely to modernise and for the fun of making it. I might still do it.

I have the 123 on my blue car - bought with it fitted 2 years ago.

I managed to delete the original curves while messing around - and got it up and running again in an hour with a bit of googling.

I'd read the same thread about issues - and was slightly concerned - but never been an problem .

I bought the recommended alternative cap ( porsche ?) - and its still sat in the car just in case - but not needed so far.

Just an update for anyone wondering, it seems the terrible customer service with 123 starts before you even give them money. Enquired about the issues with the resistors in the rotor arms failing, the response I got was "We do not know this problem from our products." to which i replied

It would appear to me that you do seeing as your American partners sell a fix. If i was to purchase one manufactured recently and on your shelf now, would it include a resistor in the rotor arm?"

I have not received a response to this, so it would seem that there are indeed quality issues, known to them, that they bury their heads in the sand with.

QED.

I mean, could you imagine if a supplier has an issue with the quality of their parts, I can't believe suppliers could have issues?

I've also got a greenhouse to throw stones in.
