replacement battery

Hi, Just in the process of replacing my 1973 240Z battery. I took the old one out way back and didn't think to measure it or make a note of the type.
Any suggestions would be a great help.

Grab yourself one of these - it will fit into the factory mount:

I’ve found this to be a great battery. I have the smaller 057 which as of yet not sorted a neater solution to hold it in place but it doesn’t seem to mind not being used regularly like others do. It has fully discharged a few times when I’ve forgotten to disconnect it but comes back to life fine once charged.

I think the orientation of the battery is dangerous I.e. having the positive post under the wing. I have turned mine around before now but it affects cable run and lengths. Or you could buy a different battery to keep the posts at the back of the battery - still affects cable lengths.

Yes I know that before taking a spanner near the positive post you should disconnect the negative.
I also found the battery clamp a bit close to the posts.

On my 280 the positive in not under the wing anymore as the PO put an isolator in the glove box and must have added lead length then. The positive lead looks original though.
