White G Nose auction ( and a yeller/lime one with wire wheels)

Another Gnose without overfenders! I think it looks fine without them. Maybe as it's got wider aftermarket wheels? Shame there seems to be no history with it.

Yellow one is odd - why would you paint the engine bay and the boot floor black if doing a full respray? Do you think they only bothered doing the exterior properly?

Also seems to be a random photo of a modern car's grille in there, like an Audi or something?! :) photo #8.

That lime one is never worth the money ... black engine bay and the details here and there - just awful. Certainly not to a high standard - is there a non-rusty bolt in the engine bay?
The G-Nose one looks lovely. I am surprised there is no mention I could see of the front though in the description - unless I missed it.

The lime one's wheels and carb are vile, and the steering wheel is on the wrong side, but if it's not rusty, it looks a decent car to me for the money.

Would the G-Nose have been converted by someone with a kit then? I really do like it, the proportions don't look wrong with it at all, like they sometimes do.

The yellow one - is the black engine bay an american thing? I feel like I've seen more US 'restored' cars with black engine bays. Does look pretty tidy, just a few taste issues in my personal opinion. Easily rectified though.

Neither come with any evidence or documentation of their respective restorations.. which I'm starting to feel is pretty damn important with these cars!

G nose ones looks to have a half arsed paint job to me but it’s hard to tell. The over spray all on the fuel tank puts me off and tells you to what extent the work was done, then you start to look at all the hardware which has just been at best wire brushed/on a wheel… front drivers wing looks badly repaired too.
It’s a user for sure, but you’re not winning any shows. It’s lower estimate is more realistic. If you spend 32k on that you’re not all there.

Yes. Not originally fitted to the car by the factory (only the HS30-H 'Fairlady 240ZG' model was fitted with the 5-piece 'Grande Nose') so will have been sourced and fitted privately.

As Dan notes, the overspray all over the fuel tank on the white one is a red flag on degree of previous work done - i.e. unlikely to be glass out, poorly masked, etc. It might look okay, but tank overspray = cheap. Probably a MAACO blow over.

The yellow one is just likely to end up being an expensive project, fixing dodgy decisions and previous work all over the place. Tatty, nasty black engine bay, scruffy engine and rusty hardware, etc.

TBH, I just don't see the attraction of cars of this nature and price point (well, in particular the yellow one and others like it, much less so the white one). Maybe this is my perfectionism talking, but they aren't good enough to be just used as is (they will throw up one mechanical/electrical/rust/paint issue after another). However, they are expensive given the amount of subsequent spending necessary to address all their weaknesses. IMO, a far better strategy is to buy a cheaper, more overtly project-level car and put the money into building it into something. Thus, by the time you get to 25k spent, you have something superior to what you would've had if buying a car like these, even if you still need to keep on spending!

I’ve just joined the club as I’ve owned a few 240s over the years and I love the cars , there may be one or 2 of my old cars owned by club members now ?
Anyway the yellow one on eBay that you are all slagging off is one of my cars , it is a rust free car , good gaps , straight panels , absolutely solid and original underneath, and the paintwork is excellent yes the wheels / carb is not to everyone’s tastes but they are easily changed PLUS the originals are all with the car , no one has mentioned that tho .
So judging it from a few small photos is a bit narrow minded , you all entitled to opinions but if you haven’t actually seen the car for real then maybe keep your comments to your selfs until you have seen the car especially if you have no interest in buying it . Any one is welcome to come and look and if it’s a bad car your more then welcome to post that .

No disrespect intended, but you're never going to be able to stop something like this from happening. If you put photos of the car up for people to see as part of a sale, they *will* pass judgement - good or bad - on what they see. A car like that WILL come to the attention of a forum dedicated to the marque and model.

The virtual world of social media and forums like this one are really not all that different to a discussion down the pub. The format allows people to make observations, and it allows you - as you have just done - to reply should you see fit to do so. Some of the comments may annoy you, some of the comments may be uninformed or unfair, and some of the comments may indeed be informed, correct and fair. You have to take the rough with the smooth I'm afraid.

That’s is spot on in wot you say,too many on here looking to find fault with any car that goes up for sale,I might of made a comment in the past regarding something that’s not right with a car
I see you are a forum user just like myself
That explains everything,no doubt this will get taken down by a committee person as it doesn’t sit with some but as you say everyone is entitled to an opinion,
Albreicht has a good point

100% agree with what your saying , I’m pretty thick skinned tbh , I can take the rough and the smooth without a problem , plus I don’t know a huge amount about what is correct or not , especially on an American import , so I don’t mind at all if things are pointed out but what gets my back up is the snidey remarks by armchair experts .

Worth considering that members of the forum are acting on as much information as your other potential buyers have, not every car gets 'slagged off' but those without lots of closeup photos are more prone to it (some sellers have 100+ imgur galleries of shots)

Also remember this is a community for our members to discuss cars, not one to help you sell your car.

Might be worth fitting them for the sale. they'll only help.

Yellow 240Z "Restored to a very high standard in the USA" - complete p*ss-take !

This armchair expert has been in Zs since +30yrs, had a lot, restored several, helped restore a lot more, imported them since 2004 and whereas, yes, the car was 'judged' on the photos and info publicly available at distance, that's what YOU shared, no more.

Perhaps US restorations are not always to the to the same standard as elsewhere although I know of some fantastic cars...a more accurate description of this car is 'honest car, good base for a project or can be used as is after an overhaul' but then you'd have trouble justifying a £25k price tag for a wrong-wheel drive.

Please, take a look as this single photo and tell us what you see wrong, that which might indicate that it's not been recently restored to any standard ?

You obviously know this make /model well I do not doubt but this car is far from a project - it’s rust free and rock solid , it’s a far better car then the pictures show , I agree the wheels are not right but that’s how it is . I’ve been in the trade nearly 40 years and I think I know a good car from a bad car by now .
From what I’ve seen advertised the price isn’t out the way , if it was a RHD it would obviously be more .
Like I’ve said earlier , anyone is welcome to look and then give a fair appraisal- it can’t be done by a few pics from an arm chair ( this is what I meant by the comment ) no offence intended by the way .
