I bagged this interesting factory RHD stereo for the 280zx. I have seen the LHD spec stereo with the digital tuner display but never this one which is laid out differently. The LHD one has labelling on the faceplate laid out to make things better visible for the driver seated on the left side as well as the tuner unit positioned on the driver’s side.

keen to power this up and see an old digital display from the 80s work!! Really a gimmick as I don’t expect a lot in terms of performance from this unit!

That’s a nice find! Quite a rare model in this country. Fingers crossed it will power up. The drive belts in the cassette will probably need changing, which is an entertaining job. Bands are available.

That's cool! Don't think I have ever seen this version. Doubt the cassette player will work, I think they have a rubber drive belt which hardens over time.

Not looking forward to taking apart the tape player! Hope the belts are easily accessible once the cover is off

I'm impressed people still seem to have cassettes knocking about, i have a couple but haven't owned anything with a tape player in it for about 15 years!

When I brought the car out of my father's garage I also found two carrier bags full of cassettes, mind you I'm not sure I can bring myself to listen to Nana Mouskouri or Demis Roussos.

All the cassettes I have seem to have found their way into the datsun’s centre console storage bin! They are all mix tapes and it’s nice to listen to them every now and then although the damn auto stop keeps triggering on the cassette deck so all I hear is the tape mechanism swapping sides repeatedly!
