Quick update and some Q's

Engine/Mechanical : petrol tank cleaned, oil switch replaced, new petrol :coolgleam: and the car is starting and running on the button - sporadic issue with #2 injector so all of the injectors are going to Tom Day in Keynsham for a service/rebuild
Fingers crossed the car will be driveable next weekend (then just waiting for DVLA to register it - 7th week now !)

Centre console : all glued/Q-bonded, all components in paint/lacquer. Will hopefully have it all repaired and reconstructed by next weekend

Exterior Chrome/Scuff panel: a pic of the scuff panels / kick panel attached - needs quite a bit of cleaning and hoping to chrome them ?! Anyone know a good chromer in the north Bristol/Bristol area ?

Plastic trim pieces - attached a pic, these two are in bad condition, very brittle to touch, small cracks everywhere. Considering layer of fibre glass across the whole inside or replacement - any thoughts ?

Folks

Wondering if there are any owners out there with a stock automatic that they are happy with
Been looking around and seems everyone just wants to replace auto box immediately - are there any threads where a good discussion has taken place on the subject ?

getting there now
Centre console : completed the fixing and painting
Armrest : rebuilt all the screw bosses with 3d printed bosses, superglue and epoxy putty. and repainted and fitted
Penny jar & drawer : done and refitted
Gear Indicator : all bosses fixed, loads of gluing and sanding, chrome penning (needs a bit of tidying up) and refitted

moved on to other internal trim parts cleaning, fixing and repainting

Folks
(slightly tongue-in-cheek)
Do we do pop-quizzes on this forum or is there a better forum to see who can name the below screws/bolts and where they should go ? :);):banghead:
Got a load of extras with the car (and I still dont have the car) that I dont know where they go

Thought it might be interesting to ask

4) go on the inside edge of the wing to stop contact with the bonnet. 3 per side I think.
5) go on the wing to cushion the closing of the inspection hatch. 3 on each side.

the rest are nuts and bolts and washers :)

Were these already loose I'm guessing?

6 and 12 look like they fit to the engine, as I remember them being like that on the air box to the carbs on mine.

Washers are washers

17 is a spring washer, used where vibration can cause the bolt / screw to escape.

3 is strange, D shape washers? Where have I seen them? Think there was a post on here regarding it, might have been the rear suspension / axel?

Yes, they were all loose already - in a box of "things" along with window chrome corners and other items
I am not even sure if I need any/all of them or if they have been replaced

Thanks so much to you and JonBills - superb work

Fellas - do you know where I can get 280z Injector Seals in the UK/Europe ? Or any car that is compatible with these seals ?
ZCarDepot has them but not sure how quick they deliver

(3) are the front wing washers I think, flat side facing up so they don't show when the bonnet is closed

EDIT: And (11) look like the fixings for (4)

There should be compatibility with other vehicles running L-Jetronic systems.
This eBay listing is in the USA but has a list of compatible vehicles.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281916622743?hash=item41a38a4797:g:G3EAAOSwffReKsfg

I'm not 100% sure if the following are correct, but it might be worth sending the seller a message.

Note that the Jaguar part number in the listing is compatible with the XJ6, which is listed in the US listing above)

Mark - thanks you so much

Jeez, did you see the delivery charge on the first link :( - $40 for the seals - $84 for delivery

Its approx £40 delivery from ZCars so I think I will go with that - safe and sound

Fedex do a service where the customs is pre-charged so it may be that. Or the seller is just chancing it.

8 and 12, bolts with captive washer are used in a multitude of places.

Examples- coil bracket, fuel filter bracket, various clips/clamps, the wing to bonnet rubber insulator thingy's, bonnet stay etc

Mr. Tenno is correct,
#3 are the washers that help attach the front wings to the inner arches. The flat end down against the channel due to the bolt holes being drilled down close to the channel itself.
