Hi all, just a few days away from the delivery of my 'new' '73 240z..

I cannot claim any of the credit for the fantastic, yet sympathetic restoration ..but I can promise to enjoy and care for it going forward...

I'm looking forward to meeting a bunch of you at the Silverstone Classic - I was signed up with my Caterham, have request a switch to the Z club booking..so hopefully Covid permitting...another great event to look forward to.

I do have a few Q's I'm sure you folks can help with...

Very importantly...
Center console/arm rest cup holders.....there's plenty of space, anyone come up with a great solution for adding in a couple of cup holders ?...

I will check, but I'll ask here anyway...fuel selection...will a '73 need an additive for lead replacement ?....also is standard unleaded ok or should I use super ?

I'm based in South Oxfordshire, which local group(s) cover that area ?...if any...

No doubt lots more Q's to come....cheers all, Graham

Welcome Graham,

Quick answers for a couple of the questions:
You can buy add-ons for the centre console, i.e. a a cushioned armrest with two cup holders built in. Obviously, you'd need to be fine with drilling holes in your console for the hinge...

Unleaded is fine without additive. They run better on Super, even with a standard engine; my Z tended to pink/ping on basic unleaded, so I only ever use high octane (the higher the better as the compression ratio on that modded engine is 11.3:1).

Welcome to our little community Graham! The Z is no Caterham but it has a unique charm and will make a place on your heart so deep you will love driving it wvwn WITHOUT the cup holders ;)

I agree with Richie, both engines (one stock and one modified) I’ve had in mine preferred the Optimax.

When is she due to land?

Tell us a little more about the car - is it totally stock? Modified? Lowered? Etc.

Looking forward to your photos and hopefully meeting you at an event soon!

EDIT: I did a google for you as I was intrigued if such a thing existed and here are some links of interest ...:

Welcome! You could try the latest Esso 99+ octane which is also currently Ethanol free.

https://www.wheels-alive.co.uk/esso...um-petrol-and-its-ethanol-free-at-the-moment/

Wow! I hadn’t realised that!!! I’m going to have to hunt the wasp garages!!!

Especially for that last summer fill before the winter hibernation.

EDIT: just realised there is one 1/4 mile away from the Shell garage I normally use and have driven past it for 37 years!!! Clearly blind to the thing a we aren’t normally interested in!!!

It has an E5 sticker on it but the website claims that most are ethanol free so far and E5 just means "Up to 5%" and there could be traces so has to be there legally.

As this may change, get a can full now ready for winter! Don't fill up with E10 when it comes out later this year!

Thanks for all nice comments folks !

Just spotted Alik's comment re specs etc....

she's 1973, UK/RHD car, repainted but in original white (904). Had a lot of resto work completed over last 3 years (not by me !)..floors, rear panel etc etc...Pretty much stock (front brake u/g) and I've just fitted a set of Rota RKRs (which I really like)

was this car previously a members car ?....would love to chat with anyone who knows its previous life !..I know from mid 80's was in the same family until 3 years ago..

We're really enjoying a less frantic driving (vs Caterham !)...and the super low down torque....very fun driving.

Here's a shot from todays outing...I'm kind'a amazed how many 'younger' enthusiasts are there are ...great sharing the car with other folks...

cheers Graham

So Graham are you planning any changes to your car? Whoever restored the car seemed to think that the inspection lamp and the bonnet catch needed to be painted black which Nissan didn't do any thoughts on this?
