Just waiting for the rear wheel bearings to turn up, then I can finish it off
Well done and double points for crawling around on the garage floor in this weather!!

I haven't seen my car since October. Both me and my sister whom I live with, got covid on 2 separate occasions, so had to isolate for a total of 4 weeks.

As I might of been selling the house I put everything on hold and just tried to concentrate on my work. Now it turns out I'm keeping my house, I'm doing my extension and eventually a wrap-around in the future. I'm going to incorporate a garage into the wrap around with a utility room to house and service the Datsun.

Also been talking to a customer with a TVR, who goes to lots of Bristol events, such as the queen Square get together. So, I plan to go out more in the car if all goes according to plan with covid.

Hopefully the dream will become a reality one day.

Gave it the weekly start up and run up to temp. No issues. Did the same with the Chamois which is being a pain to start these days, bloody Stromberg!

Went out to run the car up and found the battery has had it. I did have it on a battery maintainer, but the drop in temperature and lack of use has done for it. EXTRA:(

No point in ordering another one just yet as the evil gritters have been doing their worst. :EXTRAeek: Roll on spring....

I just removed mine...i used a steel drift punch to remove it. Only very slightly nicked one side of the bore...just learnt that this is the reason you use a brass drift not a steel one...smoothed it down with emery paper now .. live and learn.

Finally started work putting the car back together, so essentially the new springs on the rear struts.E99EFA57-66ED-4514-B720-3BE118C9212E.jpeg

Also came across a bit of a quandary.

I seem to have acquired different spring top hats, probably from the second set of suspension I have. The one on the right of the picture I have 4 of and they all came off my car. The one on the left is different from a later car perhaps?

Any suggestions as to what car and they are fronts or rears?

I think the ones to the right are from an earlier car. I have a 76 280z and it has the style on the left which allows the boots to 'fit' on.

Just seen your strut doesn't have the rubber boot fitted, may be that they are from US spec cars then!

Got the Zed fired up after it had refused last weekend due to weak battery and the cold weather. Left it on the battery maintainer since then, and with the milder weather it started up no bother. Didn't take it anywhere because the gritters have been out again.
