I need some of these adjustable top mounts for camber etc.

read the thread Sonos it K-Mac that’s recommended and where to I source these rascals?

Old topic, but @franky do you have any pictures? Do they also lower the car a bit?

Here's some. They are fixed, however all proper race cars are 'fixed' top-mounts generally.

They are beautifully made

They do look nice! What are the advantages, is it a fixed camber setting?

I can’t remember off hand, it’s a caster and camber tweak to the front, just for a bit more feel and response, in theory you could alter where it’s bolted at the top and it’ll change.

there’s also massive bearings inside to allow struts to move through suspension changes under loading, smoothly and in a linear fashion.

rear is just camber I think. It’s the settings they ended up with from building numerous race/fast road/circuit cars.

@ben240z did you receive the set? How much were they? :)... Looking for options right now, so I'm appreciating your feedback..
Hi yes got them in 4 days.
Came in at about £500 including delivery.

I had been trying to modify some Mk1 escort adjustable top mounts to fit but they are so much bigger and a fair bit of work. These are straight forward bolt in so it was a no brainer to get them.

Very nicely made as you can see in the photos already posted .

Little bit of work to do for me as I am using bilstiens so have to make some tube nuts to attach them but not a big issue

These look nice! Do they lower the car a bit? Did you have to modify the upper spring hat?

You have to remove the spring assembly in order to alter the camber setting, right?

BR

I believe they lower by about 1.5"

I got a pair of generic 2-1/4" ID upper spring seats and had them modified to accept a flat plate 3 piece needle roller thrust bearing and to suit the Koni damper inserts I use, I already had an insert/spacer/adaptor from the setup I was using that took the load from the thrust bearing onto the spherical bearing in the camber plate and I had the sleeve nuts that comes in the kit reduced from either a 21mm to 19mm or 19mm to 17mm hexagon - its been a while so can't remember but can measure next time I'm at the car if required

If you're prepared to make 2 oblong cut outs in the top of your strut tower, I wasn't, then you can access the cap screws without removing anything - just jack the car to remove the suspension load

Alternatively you can jack the car, undo the 3 camber plate nuts, allow the strut assembly to drop to a point you can move it around and access the cap screws through the large hole in the centre of the strut tower

So I ordered the Silverminemotors adjustable camber tops. Can anyone explain why there's no thrust bearing needed with stock style lowering springs + stock spring hat? For my understanding, without a bearing between spring hat and camber plate, the spring hat grinds on the steel bottom part of the camber plate. What am I missing here?
Silvermine basically replied "don't worry, it works"..

@zbloke How do these work for you? I think yours are the same, just from a different seller.

Does the spring hat 'bear' on the spherical bearing without touching anything else?

I don't have received the parts yet. But I doubt it (considering that the pillowball only has around 2-3mm flange area).

They do look very much like the ebay ones I have, but my struts have been modified to use 2-1/4" ID springs so can't help with how they would work using the OEM size/style of coil spring

The ebay seller mine came from does have a picture on the listing showing theirs aren't suitable for an OEM size/style of spring though - perhaps Silvermine include something else, an adaptor of some description, in their kit to get around this?

Silvermine just has a picture showing that the upper lip of the spring hat has to be ground off:

Funny is, that this seems to be a picture of a hybridZ thread :D

It looks to me like the only point of contact for the damper is inside the spherical bearing.

Oh wait, that doesn't work does it, the spring rotates too :)

So, finally I got a proper response from Silvermine:

Silvermine said:
No its not ideal. No it does not have a bearing. Yes they grind when you turn. sounds like you need something else. Maybe a full coilovers kit.

This is more than annoying. They advertise their camber plates as "bolt in" with no modificationis besides a little grinding of the spring hat needed. It took me 4 emails back and forth to receive this answer.. and before buying, all he said is "it works well". Not the best seller practice.

@zbloke : Would you mind sharing a few pictures of your setup?
