There is a lot of internet fluff about the next Z, what I do know is/I'm guessing

There is no GTR replacement, it was just to high end for the dealers to support so they made no money...

It was likely to be called the 400Z we all know that the number related to the engine size so is that a 4Lt or could it be a BHP and they turbo it?

It was likely 4WD to make it more controllable for the masses, if they depart from rear wheel drive then the turbo is more likely. They would like to take some of the GTR buyers as well to this + they have a good 4 wheel drive system they can reuse

There is a hint of it in this video which is a mule of some sort

We saw potentially an early something on our visit, it potentially looks different but related...

they want a high margin model but it might be canned due to the group issues

despite what was said they made money out of the GTR, well selling it

No doubt you will have talked to some designers. But these days automotive concept, planning, styling and engineering are by their very nature GLOBAL activities. I'm not sure that Paddington Basin is quite Nissan's beating heart.

here we go again, actually, they all arrived at an event in 2019 with the concept software they use and we support. I happen to know some Japanese chaps as well but I don't need to prove anything to you. So you have no view on the next Z?

Haven't nissan said there will be a replacement for the GT-R? Given its super long life cycle and numbers made, I can't see how it wouldn't have made money? Where did that come from?

The '400z' wasn't muted as a gtr replacement I thought, just a replacement for the 370z.

given the parent company struggles, the fact they might close the alipne factory, there's lots to consider.

Not to mention the stuff going on with MR French(we could have told them never to trust the french!).

Yes the Alpine is likely finishing but I expect some horse-trading between Nissan and Renault on what factories get to make what models going forward.

A good friend of mine managed the model realisation group at Paddington until he retired 3 yrs ago. From speaking with him on many occasions (regarding the Juke I simply asked "Why?" ) I can confirm that the people at Paddington were a major influence on the styling of Nissan cars for many years. I would expect that is still the case.

There's a precedent for the GTR emblem taking a hiatus in Nissan's past. The GTR 'brand' means something to Nissan and to the general public (especially in Japan) and if they can monetise that effectively again in the future then they will. These are difficult and troubling times, and the automotive landscape is being forced to experience existential threats that it has not seen coming. Super high performance cars are becoming an anachronism and the all-singing-all-dancing path that the R35 took the GTR brand up is starting to look like a cul de sac. Smaller, lighter, more efficient, hybrid and/or EV power is being seen as the way to go.

Any new Z is going to have to straddle two eras. One fading, one not here yet. It is going to be a compromise, and I look upon it in the same way that I do the elephants in the zoo; I like to look at them, but I wouldn't want to own one.

I wouldn't expect Nissan to have a GTR in 400z promotional stuff, why would they when its not part of that models family tree?

Its a shame about Alpine, hoping the factory does stay open.

The Video is "next" not about Z directly, there is a lot large SUV's so likely US market focused.

GTR featured in lots of Nissan promotional material up till 2018, there aren't any plans for GTR platform at all is what I might have been told, that class of car needs special parts bin. There was very little taken from the existing bin to make the R35. To do a supercar from a major manufacturer you need some electric motivation, after the disaster at Le Mans there was no impetuous or people to drive this forward. JDM market is not so focused on supercars so the influence needs to come from outside.
