Yes it does look special and so it should be for £50k.

The 970S is rare and an absolute wreck sold for £18k at Mathewson's Auction - did you see it on 'Bangers and Cash' ?

I've never owned a mini but of course they were very common in my youth and I navigated on many rallies in a 1071s and a 1275GT (the Clubman shape).

A mini is a 'high maintenance' car for competition but very capable due to it's cornering speed.

That’s a nice example. Best fun on four wheel you could get, for what was little money back in the late 80’ IMO.

Used to modify and de-seam them as a side line for extra spending money during my apprenticeship. Lots you can do to the old A series engines to get more go-go.

KGF are a few miles from me - they do have some nice stuff. My experience of Minis ranges from a mate's car when we were 17 which was an old F reg (1968) 850 with holes in the floors and flapping wings to my sister's boyfriend's 1275GT in orange with brown (or dark blue) vinyl interior in the late 70s. My auntie had one (S reg) which was that late 70s BL brown and it had about 10k on the clock when her son sold it after her death about a decade ago.

These early Coopers are worth a fortune nowadays - as evidenced by that basketcase above!

I used to own an 1100 Clubman back in the 80's and it was just the best fun. It really did corner like it was on rails. Of course, if I saw a car full of young lads nowadays driving like that I'd be absolutely appalled (where is the emoji for hypocrite...).

Yes, I often think how reckless my mates were in their Minis ;)

Take a few minutes to watch this Mini battling an Alfa, absolutely brilliant bumper to bumper racing. Just shows how capable they are.

I know BTCC driver Adam Morgan through work and he said that racing the classic Minis is the absolute best fun, wheel to wheel racing he’s ever done. Great to watch too.

Both those guys were extremely good drivers. Balls of steel to throw the Mini in to the corners at those speeds though, as I thought he’d lost it on the grass a couple of times.
