I was just looking at car and classic web page and some of the prices asking for certain models for example a red 280zx 27 thousand plus.Am I missing something here or is the bloke delusional or have I got old and miserable. I can get a mint 240/260 for that I’d hate someone to part with their hard earned cash and give it to a pisss taker like that cos that’s wot those people are,it’s like robbing an old age pensioner in my books and some of the left hooker prices for 240/260/280 are a bit steep but before anyone comments on that one I can see where they are coming from as the LHD in theory has a more needy audience as can appeal to most European countries but where do some of these people get off on
If that 280 zx is worth that much then I suggest guys and girls you get another 25 thousand put on your mint Zeds which would put some of our Zeds in the sixty thousand pound valuation bracket
Should be a law about taking the mick

Why abuse? That's your opinion and it's neither right nor wrong. Personal opinion is just that. Not seen the car in question, but the owner can ask for it what he likes ... no-one has to pay it.

Not abusing nothing so don’t know where you got off on that one and yes we can ask wot we want for our cars so no right or wrong there but don’t you think that considering wot some of these cars asking prices are going for they are in cuckoo land and I’m not saying that red one isn’t a good one but 27 grand for a 280 zx come on, it ain’t rocket science is it it’s just a bloody stupid price to ask for one of them,as I said us 240 and 260 owners should be asking well into the 50/60 k s for our cars and the thing that Peees me off that someone that knows nothing about these cars will think it’s a bargain and the seller will be rubbing his grubby little hands taking their money,as I said at that price it’s like mugging an old age pensioner after they’ve just collected their pension in a Thursday morning from the post office
Think I’ll put my 260 Z up for 65 k once the new engine is in,they say there is more out than in so I might strike it lucky

That’s how the saying goes Jon or have you not heard that one before but as we know many people haven’t got a soh now days and are scared to have a laugh and joke in case someone starts crying
So wot do yer think my chances are of getting 65 k for my Zed once the Rebello is in with all the other bits that’s been done and wot do yer think of that blokes chances of getting 27 k for a 280 ZX,can you see where I’m coming from ?
I expect to get slagged off or abused,call it wot you like for giving an opinion on something that’s stupidly overpriced but it doesn’t bother me in the slightest so you can leave all the remarks here for everyone to see instead of taking it down because one or two administrators don’t agree with it as I’ve got a soh

The phrase "A fool and his money are soon parted" applies here.
Anyone diving into a purchase like, this without doing any research, is asking (possibly deserving) to have their pants pulled down.
Before buying any car, I at least check the values of other cars of the same type/spec that are for sale on various sites (Autotrader, Pistonheads, Car and classic, etc, etc.).
I also search forums specific to that marque/model for as much info that I can find.
If it is a dealer or specialist, I will check for reviews.
All of this before buying, it's just part of due diligence.

You said bring on the abuse ... as if you welcomed it - I said why would anyone choose to abuse you - it is your opinion, which is no more valid than mine or anyone else's.

You're quite right, the price is too high. But do you want to take away the freedom of the guy to ask it? Of course not. If I came and offered you what you thought was a derisory offer for your Z would you be insulted or understand it's my right to offer you anything I want to - even £10? As it is your right to say on yer bike.

It's a free country as the saying goes. If you put your car up for daft money and some guy came and paid it - would you say well it wasn't worth that mate, I was taking the pee, so have half the £65k back ...

Been lucky enough so far, but there is always the chance of uncovering some well hidden horrors!

On the subject of prices just been browsing ebay Z site, first time in ages. Most asking prices seem ludicrous to me. Did someone on here mention £1400 for a R/H dashboard ?

you should have entered in the Silverstone auction today.

Only watched a few cars, D Type replica £40k over estimate, 911 Rs Replica over £150K with commission double the bottom estimate.

Had been waiting for the 2 door Sierra Cosworth, too frightened to leave the sound up!

Something else to bear in mind, there's a false economy at the moment. Government doling out money, £10k lump sum for rates for a small unit, bounce back loans up to £21k for a non vat paying
business, higher for larger Companies.

I know of several people using the money to by Classic cars. On the loans , no interest for the first year, 2.5% for the remaining 5.
