but the people will say we are only buying seeds and small veg plants to ease the burden on the food chain in the Autumn!! well you have to think people are acting in the best interests of eveybody else
Maybe they will give the excess to the needy in their location

I’m delighted to report that the “necessities and essential items” are still getting through in the post!

Feeling sorry for you guys and glad that I was lucky enough to get work and get out in time before most travel stopped otherwise I'd still currently have no job. Luckily the shop doing my Resto is till carrying on with work as they have enough work for the next year with no need to meet any customers, my parts have all arrived so hopefully they re-start work on it soon in the hope of having it back with me early next year.

I'm currently stuck at work until the worst of this is over, however I really don't want to be at home right now anyway. I'm lucky here that I don't have to worry about any supplies or food and we are very well stocked. We changed plans on route 3 times en-route before we ended up here in the Maldives. We left Singapore pretty much just in time as on the way most ports and borders closed, hence our constantly changing route and before that we had left Thailand before it got too bad there.

Its pretty much Virus free here bar a few cases which are on one island and have been confined there since, there haven't been any new cases here in the last two weeks. I plan to stay onboard until it becomes more normal at home.

Since there have been no crew changes for over 3 weeks (rotations and crew changes are stopped until further notice) we know everyone on board is virus free and hence no precautionary measures are needed. We are still however very careful with hand washing and sanitising surfaces several times a day as well as body temp check morning and evening.

So, quarantine and social distancing, but I have to say, there are worse places to have to do it.

Ian, if you run low on lobster and pineapples I guess you take the jet ski over to the local shops and replenish......the chopper is used for steaks and pork chops probably???

Nice.

Can't deny fortune has favoured me this time.

Just take care Ian, we are with you - it looks tough but 'hang on in there'.
Oh Hell! It must be unbearable, you poor sod!

Sure, I'm getting it ok right now, but I did have 5 months without a job before this so glad I caught a break just in time. Would be little chance of getting work now and would have been in real financial trouble.

Looks good for a bit of scuba
I've done a few dives, its not bad, will be teaching some of the crew this Sunday. Mostly just swimming or snorkelling though as its dark shortly after I finish work so other than some night diving its hard to fit it in. Went spear finishing after work today and saw two sharks which was cool.

Had my first go in the submarine yesterday which was very cool, but honestly I think I prefer diving.
