240z floor paint colour

The floor pans inside my US import 1973 240Z are covered with a black mastic-type material. I have been removing it to check the floors as little bits of rust were visible where the mastic had lifted in places. The floors are fine, small amount of surface rust treated and now I’m ready to repaint.

The floors are painted a very light green colour. Does anybody know the shade / code of this colour? Also, is this combination of colour then mastic on top typical of all Zs irrespective of market? I have had three other Zs over the years, but this is the first one I’ve had with its original floors!

You'll nee to put a pic up ideally - light green you say - what is the colour of the car - the same? You should be able to find out the colour from the 'net. If the colour doesn't match the exterior colour it's not the original as I think they were painted when the car was sprayed in the factory ...

My own US car is the same but has the exterior body colour on top of the sound deadening ...

They weren’t painted under the bitumen from the factory, it would be bare metal underneath
Are you talking about the underneath of the floors or the interior, Franky? Would seem odd to prep and paint the luggage area and leave the cabin floors unprotected. Might explain why most U.K. cars lost their floors though I guess!

No, the car exterior was brown -sorry “bronze metallic”. I would guess it was originally that colour as I doubt anybody would respray it that colour out of choice!
The nearest standard colour to the light green would be the Lime option I would think. I’ll try and get a picture posted next time I’m in my storage place.

The floors are painted, but OVER the bitumen pads, which were applied to bare metal, so if the pads start to lift, bare metal is exposed.

It was the 70s, that metallic bronze was probably all the rage then! :D I'd be inclined to think it was lime originally - can you still see any colour under the car?

Ah OK. What was confusing me is that my floor is actually all covered with bitumen (or rather mastic) so I guess that's a bit of a later addition. So....the original bitumen pads...which areas did they cover? Don't suppose you have a picture by any chance?

I'm due some clutch work soon so I'll have a good look around when it's on the ramp. Not going to repaint green even if I find any, though!

Hi Sam, they were fairly comprehensively covered when new, 1/2 way up the inside of the firewall, tunnel/floor, boot floor etc.
