Do they share the same output splines for the same half-shafts as those for the R180s ? What is the difference in weight anyone ?

The R180's shafts are bigger diameter, the R160's are similar to the Datsun items , not sure on weight but the R160 is smaller/ lighter by design, but a quick google comes up with this figure - R160 ~52lbs R180 ~64lbs

Here's mine , you wouldn't know to look at it , unless you know the differences

I have subaru shafts to go with the diff but nothing to suit the 240z

It has stub shafts protruding from the diff
You do but that's in my pile in your garage! Some of these https://datsunrestomods.com/product...ubs-datsuns-with-subaru-sti-r180-differential

you could use make set to pattern a set? You can get a 180 LSD diff with no major issues £200 to £300 you know this.

I have an R180 LSD 3.9 but its not going anywhere for less than 400 :D Not seen another for sale in months and I'd rather have it as a spare.

East Kent Subaru Spares have them every so often, if you see them on ebay and ring them up they are 20% cheaper

looks like my R180 STI Diff was a bargain then but we will only know when it's in the car

Depends on the ratio as we have said before.

The problem is - if someone with a Japanese import 04-05 Subaru WRX STI (a rare car now) has a problem with the diff its getting difficult to find them with this ratio. The 3.54 was much more common. You can pick up the 3.54 relatively easily for 150-250.

so there is a RX8 adapter place on facebook saying
"If you don't see an engine type that you would like us to make an adaptor plate for please contact me as i am always interested in expanding in engine types. I will need a gearbox off the engine in question so i can draw up a cad drawing from it and if the engine isn't a popular type i might need 5 people/5 deposits to cover start up and tooling fees. "

can't see an L series on it, RX8 gearboxes are so cheap 6 speeds £200 and 5 speeds are £50

Do the rx8 boxes have a mechanical speedo drive or would you have to convert to a GPS speedo?

I think the rx8 engines are considered service items. Maybe not replaced every service but still at regular intervals. There's 2 sitting outside my workshop, with problem engines.

so the RX8 adapter guy came back with
"Hi, thanks for your message. How many adaptors will you be looking to buy? Can you get a group buy together? And what sort of turn around time will you be looking at? I will need a block/crank flywheel and starter motor to do the work too. Thanks."

I'm going to pass this over to Hallie as I already have a 6 speed.. My car is coming to bits next month so you have the prototype parts

is there 5 people who would buy an adapter would put their name down for this?
