There are different atmospheres at different track events :

Spa Classic is all about being grouped together at the circuit and then people disperse in the evening to where they're all staying.

Le Mans Classic is more about spending time watching the different races, walking through the paddocks with reguler coming and going on our stand*. The social side is away from the circuit which we try to encourage being together on the nearby campsite.

Comfort and convenience - hands down any off-circuit camping will win. But you'll go away 'missing' something.

*there will be the reguler Saturday midday apperitif offered on the stand - it's the only moment during the while weekend when I insist everyone to make the effort to be there with their cars please !!!

We had loads of time watching as much or as little racing as we chose and walking through the paddocks and watching in the main stand up in the gods which is awesome as you can feel wot the atmosphere was back in the olden days which is one of my favourite bits about being there and yes it’s great having all the Zeds and Zedders together and there is lots of social stuff where we stay and lots of different makes of cars not just Datsuns so lots of classics to oogle over which is why we are there we were on the Datsun stand a couple of times but unfortunately you were at work due to not being able to get the Friday off which is a bit of a bummer and we were there on the sat but you were off watching the racing which is wot we were there for so we missed each other but that won’t happen next year

As you know my car suffered a bit of damage on the Friday hence I ponnced a lift off of Tim on the sat back to the track, the Zed is going in for a few bits of paint repair and a new spoiler that I damaged last year in Le man and then the engine in sept/Oct so I need you to pull yer finger out lad and get those exhausts sorted

Minor point of info - nobody races on Friday. Exhausts will be available at end of sept as planned.

Horses for courses then re camping : anyone who chooses to camp on-circuit will be very welcome to join with us for joint BBQs, breakfasts and drinkies - kinda bring a bottle convention which keeps it inexpensive both on and off the track (beer and food on circuit is silly money).

Still had the Zeds on the stand though on the Friday,Good news about the exhaust and as the French bloke says you are welcome to camp on the Zed stand well worth it but as some of us have got a bit older we have become more sophisticated so are going for the slightly more upmarket camp site with beer on tap nice looking bar maids fresh French bread and some of those croissant thingys the French people eat also they have a live band on one of the days which were ok,might have to get up there with Jake and give a few bass and drumm lessons

Status becoming sophistocated - almost worth paying the campsite ! With all that going on, don't forget to make the most out of the expensive tickets bought for the racing and paddocks.

We have croissants and other viennoiseries too - it's just a case and one of us going down the road to the local bakery for fresh items.

EXTRA:D

I am open to persuasion either way ;)
My ideal would be 'camping' in a motorhome with Sean's lot on circuit site but would be driving there in my Z.
So, need to hire one locally in France and collect somewhere within an hour or so from Le Mans if this is to happen.
Mentioned before but didn't go anywhere. Can you help and put the feelers out Sean? Anyone in your club have contacts?
Could you make a post on your club site on my behalf asking around? Nearest place I could find was Paris suburbs - too far away to work.

I think that your persuasion was never in question Ducky

I'll ask around - for 1x person or........?

Good point!
A proper motorhome with wc, shower etc so will probably be coachbuilt or maybe larger van conversion.
Can be 2/3/4 berth.

I could probably find you a decent berth in a camping car going there....but you'll want your own suite won't you !

No dolly birds, ducks or bar service but I might bring an inflatable............

.............swimming pool and a parasol and we can always get a few kegs in and somehow chill them !

Leave the ducks to that Chris Vegas bloke and the blow up doll and as for the bar service the poor lad doesn’t know wot it means as he didn’t get the beers in at donnington

Didn’t know you were a Scooby expert, don’t knock em till you’ve had one, a good 240/260 doesn’t even come close to a decent Scooby, the model I got just before Xmas has doubled in price in the last 3 years and my WRX wagon has depreciated by about £800 in the five years I’ve had it,not many cars can claim that not even our beloved Zeds
