Installing a set of air horns

Has anyone installed a set of musical air horns and used the existing original horn wiring which is in situ, instead of running a whole new set of wiring through the car with a separate button on the dash,
just wondered if it were possible, or will the existing wire not cope.

I have but not on my Z installed them in my 1.2 polo well hidden behind grill but in front of rad I think there illegal, run a separate circuit to feed two compressors, two relays with two illuminated push switches, five horns on one compressor and two on the other so ones just a loud blast (two horns) and the others like the general lee (five horns)
The compressors use a lot of juice so I wouldn’t install them on existing Z wiring if I were you, and don’t use them without the engine running.

I'd imgine that it's a select few that have made that mod!

When I am at the M.O.T station I will ask if they are illegal as the main hooter, or if they are illegal altogether, the boy I was speaking too had to go and ask and was not to sure.

The musical ones are most definitely illegal, the single tone ones I'm not sure, i guess if they are so loud as to scare OAP's, dogs and small children! then probably not.

I did have a loudish single tone one on my first car (Chevette) back in the day, but I cant' recall if it was ever MOT'd with it installed before it was scrapped!
