I've got my tickets sorted for the 3 days :smoke:
I see Silverstone classic are running a special Mini Celebration Package & a special Capri Celebration Package, but No Z Celebration Package. Looks like we'll be the unwanted scabby dog in the corner again EXTRA:(

Hi all,

I have bought tickets for the whole weekend (before I joined z club).
How do I go about getting a club pass for my z (if 350z's are allowed?)

I'm taking the z regardless as I do every year now. But it normally just stays in the campsite!

Has a parade been confirmed yet?

Wish I had been part of the club earlier but that's the way it goes sometimes I guess!

I'm trying to get more details for us.

nissansportz have reserved some rooms in a hotel less than 20 mins away so PM me if you'd like details :)

Yes it would be nice to find out what will be happening as their site doesn't mention Anything regarding 50 years of the Z, I wish i could have been at Donington but as i have such a s***t job i needed my holiday more, booked for all 3 days and a hotel for two days, how many of us are going ? Thought that it would be as big as DPark Hope it will be.........

Woody, probably not an easy question to answer and sorry to land it on you.
As Events Co-ordinator can you let us know what the position is regarding this event.
I believe we booked our tickets using the Z Register code as it was decided to keep all the bookings together so we would all be on one stand.
Is the Z Club going to have official representation, an awning/shelter, flags etc or is it just the Z Register that will have that ?

It seems a shame that I have only seen official publicity from Silverstone Classic mentioning 50 years of the Capri and 60 years of the Mini yet nothing at all about the Z.
Is there a parade lap, if so which day and time ?

Do we have any idea of the numbers booked already ?

Thanks for being understanding Chris, a bit of a poisoned chalice to inherit sadly.

I’ll fill you and everyone else in with all of the information that I’ve pieced together over the last month or so having taken on the role for the club. I will caveat this by saying that this is my personal understanding as no single person has the answers, and these are the conclusions that I’ve drawn.

There was talk between all of the clubs last year about unanimously attending this event (albeit sporadic due to the varied communication methods being several clubs), no one wanted to step up to take point on the organisation of the event due to the amount of work and coordination involved and the club having no one in the events coordinator role had no one to take this forward.

At present any action towards this event has been by the individual clubs, the ZRegister has organised they’re usual stand at the event and allowed other clubs access to book onto the stand however nothing further has been done (to my knowledge). This doesn’t appear to have been clearly shared or agreed as information, very few clubs have therefore acted upon this. The Nissansportz club have probably been the most proactive in attempting to move this forward and certainly pushed it with their club (that I’ve seen). Other clubs have simply given up due to the lack of information and understandably those still interested are struggling to now do anything with the limited time available lack of hotels, cost etc.

I setup this thread whenever it was (and before I took on the role) so that anyone interested could try and get in on the action before it was too late, hence the lack of info and posting on my part (I just felt a public area to discuss this further should be on the club). Before we went to Spa I did message Silverstone about the clubs attendance and whether anything could be done to mark the occasion etc however to date I’ve received no response. As you’ve noted there’s a huge amount of anniversary’s being celebrated (at least a dozen if not more) by a variety of clubs across the event, anything we can secure at this stage will be minor by comparison if at all possible with only two months to go.

I will try and follow up with Silverstone and get an official response to get things moving in some way and see if it’s not too late to do anything however time is very much against us and no promises can be made, these type of events need to be planned over a year in advance to give suitable warning to all those involved. Silverstone may just blanket ignore any requests and have already printed publications already etc

In terms of an official club presence with awning/shelter, flags etc I am sure this would be possible (subject to Silverstone approval, I’ve never been before to know the usual format), however it will require volunteers to bring these items to the site and make sure they are returned etc. That also involves clubs members to commit to being there for the whole weekend and transporting this gear. I can’t comment on what the ZRegister may be planning as I have no contact with them at present…

To my knowledge there is no parade lap at this time, albeit people have talked about one and requested on enough times you could understandably believe there may be one!

No idea on total numbers booked, the ZRegister may have an admin role over the stand to clarify this. Again not sure who can clarify…

On a personal note I actually have a pre-existing commitment for volunteer work starting the same Saturday so will be unavailable to actually be hands on for the weekend, albeit happy to pedal things along from behind my desk if it helps the club.

You now know as much as I do….

OK Woody, thanks for the update. I will be there all weekend and have attended over the last three years so know the format reasonably well. I have spoken with Steve and we are trying to get more information from Jon Newlyn at Z Register in terms of if there is a parade lap, if so, when and also an idea of numbers. I am happy enough to put up whatever club tent/marquee we have and flags/banners type things.

So it has been on the go since Jan all hyped up for the big 50, and now no one seems to know Anything official ?? Bit late in the day to sort out a parade lap pretty poor communication between Silverstone and the clubs, big corporate bulls**t they probably forgot about us. Been looking forward to this all year, now seems like it has become an after thought, hope things get sorted and a proper 50th party for our special cars happen.

New information is now beginning to appear, I understand that there's over 30 cars registered as attending to date.

I have also heard through more official channels that there is meant to be a parade lap however no further details or confirmation as to which day as of yet.

I'll update you all further as and when I know more.

Thanks Woods! It does seem that the organisers are running it close to the wire. FYI I booked a "drive out" experience (can't recall the name) which is on Saturday. I called hem to check (before paying) that it didn't clash with the parade lap and they assured me that the lap was on the Sunday.

Having said all that, I have lost my confirmation email and need to follow up so if I get anymore info, I will update you.

Sat/Sun 2-day packages are sold out too. I was planning to at least do Sat, maybe both - but hadn't got around to booking tickets yet...

Stopped faffing and bought my Sunday ticket.

That news has made a decision for me. Was going to travel up on the Friday stay over, do the Saturday and then drive down to Beaulieu for Simply Japanese on the Sunday. Was waiting till I got paid at the weekend to book the tickets but as the Saturday is now sold out at Silverstone. It looks like I won't be going.:(
