still have wows with my no starting 280z .we think we got to the bottom of it (it a pain in the neck haha ) no looks like my dizzy pickup sending a weak spark . got good fuel pressure and all the electric look like there working when tested . dizzy has internitent spark .so iam going to clean it up and repalce the pickup and condenser . look on ebay to find the pickup and get one from the USA for about £40 but cant find a condenser can any one point me in the right direction of part number or supplier hope mjp can help . thanks for having a look at the post chris . on the plus side my two sons wanted to help so they put the new rota rkr on just to lift my spirits and they look the dogs bits if its only a large paper weight at the moment its the coolist ever.chris

there a condenser on the coil it was on then i got the car so not sure .this is the problem i have buying a none running car with loads of wires not connected .i still think its the dizzy as it looks like crap so a strip and clean plus new contact will not be a bad thing still hopeing to go to donnington god willing but its close ie not a lot of interior how said restoring a car is a piese cake ?

If it is a white ceramic block then as Toopy has said, it is the ballast resistor. There is a wiring diagram in a Haynes manual that shows how this is supposed to be wired up to the coil.

If it is a small circular silver object with one wire that connects to the coil then you probably have a radio suppressor and this will not affect the ignition system in terms of spark. Condensors are normally found on mechanical points distributors not on the coil.

If you can take some pics of the dizzy & coil & post them up so that people can work out what you have.

hi spoke to mike at mjp and he said its a radio thing you will have to cope with my ignorance at times this car restoration a little new to me . the poor spark was down to the small matter of it being full of crap . cant work out why its run before but it slowly got harder too start new pickup ordered so it may start soon god willing
