That’s not going to work. The L28, yes; but nothing else is going to be of use from an S130 in an S30 shell - they are fundamentally different in pretty much all respects. No RHD components from a 130 will transfer to a 30.
Sorry for not being clear Richie, I have a load of RHD S30 components collected that I intended to eventually use on my 280Z.

Having looked at those pictures Warren , I’m inclined to agree with the others on the thread. I think you will spend as much of not more that the cost of another shell employing a welder fabricator to do the repairs. That Door pillar repair is going to be a big job in its own right. I also don’t like the look of the previous repairs to the inner wings. There is a drainage channel behind that and it must be put back or water will pool in the inner wing/bulk head. I will put money they will have rotted away.

Tough one mate. Unless you are handy with a welder and like a challenge I would be inclined to either re-shell it or look for a better example.
Appreciate the feedback Huw, this is completely my own fault for not further examining the car months ago. Time and unit space just didn't allow it.

Having booked my welder/fabricator I have to give him a shot at it for at least a day. Would be unfair to cancel this late on, that said if it really isn't working out I'll pay him for the day and like I said just put it down to bad judgment and lack of experience on my part.

Based on this Huw, I don't suppose you have a reference for that drainage channel?

It’d make sense to get your own car from overseas, other wise you’re just loosing the few ££££ markup they’re making on it.

It does look a little too far gone in the pics.

While that sounds practical, you're not seeing the car, whereas someone like Mike in the US is, and you'd expect to pay a small bit for his time, can't see the problem with that. I presume Wazza saw this car before buying it - Robbie J's mate saw one for him in person and that could have turned out better. It's all a risk to some degree ...

That's exactly what I meant, use someone like Mike.

I'd say that Robbie J's mate wasn't too sure what he was looking at?

Chris reminded me at the weekend that you bought that nice 280Z off him - I'd forgotten about that! Hope you're planning to bring it out and about this year. We are going to try and re-institute a regular Cheshire Plainz meetup, so hopefully you can pop over?

Yeah I feel the same about this, the car I had from Chris is amazing. I looked at this S130 myself and didn't realise it would be this much of a rabbit hole, but it was cheap and that kind of blinded me. These are my first classics, the S130 is my first real project.

I love the 280Z, passionately. To the point I am seriously reconsidering converting it. I think it is something I will do eventually but only when the car is already in a position to have it done (have the engine out for any reason etc).

Cheshire is a bit out of my way but I'd still love to try and come, will be April onwards pretty much for me as it's Snowboarding season for me :)

In S130 news, our welder & fabricator is brilliant. I think we dropped on, he spends half his year in France welding boats and half his time here - it was completely by chance we met him as he purchased a gearbox from us and I noticed welding gear in the back of his van.

He came a day early to start cutting the car to bits, he's super confident and I have a lot of faith in him. Nice honest bloke that talks you through what he's doing and how he's attacking bits.

Cor could have done with a lift like that when I did mine. Hope the welder guy can sort it for you!

Yeah it is great, very difficult to free it up though for personal projects when you have a business to run! I want a bigger unit but sadly the business just isn't there yet.

Guys, it's dead. We've taken more of the metal back and the repair work needed is just horrendous.

Anybody need any cuts before I send the shell to its grave? Only really roof, rear pillars, rear hatch and rear light panel are good.

Will be holding a funeral next week for anyone who wants to pay their respects to this very short lived project :EXTRAlol:

want to sell the engine/box?
For the right price I would consider doing so, although the 5 speed box fits my 280Z (currently 4 speed).

Haven't looked into what they're worth yet though. Have a video of the engine running.

Wazza, just don't be too hasty with what you scrap. I've junked a lot of stuff (due to lack of storage) that I've either wanted or could have made me money a couple of years later.

Really appreciate the advice Rob, currently I'm in the mind of keeping anything that fits my 280Z such as transmission and brake master etc.

That being said, I have 2x lots of interior stuff (PO donor car) so if anybody needs odd bits of trim etc I would definitely reach out. Some to suit 2 seater, some 2+2.

If anybody wants anything though do feel free to drop me a message and ask, worse I can say is no I'm keeping it :)

How do I go about pricing this stuff currently? I naturally want to make some of my money back on the car but particularly don't want to rip off any members.
