Longest 240z restoration ever?

So I guess its finished (apart from a very few cosmetic jobs :) ) I wanted to get the car MOTed before this daft new law change came in, so off it went last booking of the day at my local garage. They let me assist in the MOT, setting the headlights and helping with the brake checks. It past first time with no advisories! very happy bunny and they let me take some pics underneath while it was on the lift, a rare opportunity for me. 14.JPG 15.JPG 16.JPG 17.JPG 18.JPG 19.JPG

The more I look at this car and the first few posts I find it an absolutely incredible achievement.

I had a UK 'rust-free' car and it would have been an ideal candidate for a resto but it's just not my thing and it had never been apart and didn't need it. However this complete resto needed so much remedial work and panels etc etc and you found the motivation and had the vision to seen the end goal.

What a car.

Make sure you insure it correctly.

Thanks Rob I really appreciate the comments (good or bad) from fellow enthusiasts. It's been a very long journey due to family commitments which always have to come first but I got there in the end, really happy with the car but I guess like all we all see room for improvement. I got a valuation through the club so hopefully I'm adequately insured, hopefully we'll get the weather so that I can get out and start to enjoy driving it. Thanks again Rob

Hi all, thought I'd share some pics that Practical Classics have sent me from the photo shoot they did of my car in my home town of Whitehaven Cumbria. Amazing what a difference it makes when its a professional stands behind the lens. Hope you like them. Magnificent pics. The changes in focus you can get with a really good lens makes the world of difference. Interior looks superb, exterior lovely. Who needs body mods? Car looks fantastic ...

One question ... why is the rear plate 'upright' as opposed to at an angle? Minor point ...

Hi Mike, agree having someone with the right kit and knowing how to use it makes all the difference .
Glad to read your minor point, one of the difficulties I've had with the car rebuild is I've barely seen another 240z in the 20 years I've had this one, so I've had to rely on internet pics and the manufacturers parts books/diagrams to tell me what goes where and how, my other difficulty was when I originally stripped the car digital photography wasn't available and so the amount and detail of my own pics was very limited. I wasn't aware that the rear plate should be at an angle but just been down to take a look at the difference, I think its because I've used double sided stickers to fit the rear plate rather than screw it on flush against the bracket (didn't want to drill the plate) but I'll take another look at it at the weekend and try and get it at the right angle. I really appreciate comments from fellow members like yourself about my car particularly when things aren't quite right or what they should be, I've relied on advice from members in this club on my build and would have struggled even more without them.
Cheers Paul

This really does look superb and is a real credit to you and work work you've put in!

One of those photos could have made the club calendar if it had been submitted ;) There's always next year if you want to submit some....

Thanks Woody, unfortunately I didn't have the photos in time as Practical Classics can only release them after the magazine has been published. No issue in using them next year or resubmitting them if needed.
