So it's the time of year to start looking forward to Spring and with it the show season opener.

There has been much talk of the 50th anniversary this year so I'm hoping we can make the event a big one, with some special guests and hopefully our own parade lap, although this is still a work in progress so bear with me.

Opinions, suggestions, help and anything else as always welcome.

I've registered the club for the event in the usual way, which this year is Friday, Saturday and Sunday 3rd, 4th and 5th of May.

As many know MSV took over the circuit last year and as such the process for ticket purchases has changed from the previous years, so take some time to read through the information below lets get things moving.

Cheers,

JK

TO ORDER ONLINE

1) Go to: www.msv.com/DHFdisplay

2) Select our club from the list shown and click on its name. If you already have an MSV account, login. Otherwise, create an account.

3) You’ll then be presented with a page showing the conditions for displaying a vehicle - click the box at the bottom to say that you agree, then you’ll be taken to a page that asks ‘who are you displaying with?’ Select ‘With a club’ then select our club name from the list that appears and press ‘Continue’

4) Select the day or days that you wish to attend and press ‘Continue’

5) CAR DETAILS: Add the details of the vehicle/s you will be bringing* to display on the club stand.

6) TICKET SELECTION: Follow the process through to ticket selection. IMPORTANT - the online club ordering system automatically puts one adult entry ticket for your chosen day/days into your shopping basket before you get to the ticket selection area. So please only select any additional entry tickets that you may need when you get to ticket selection.

7) In the shopping basket you will see any additional tickets you have chosen showing as entry tickets and your driver entry ticket will show as a vehicle display pass (shown at the price for your entry ticket).

8) At this stage everything will still be shown at full price - press to go through to checkout, then enter our unique club code

DHF_Z3637TK

in the Promotion/Voucher Codes box, which will apply the 50% club discount.

All entry tickets, including the driver ticket, will be sent out immediately but the vehicle pass (which is only a parking pass this year) will be sent out separately, two weeks before the event.

TO ORDER BY PHONE

Call the MSV ticket hotline 0843 453 9000, give the club name and booking code

DHF_Z3637TK

and you should receive the 50% club discount. Please also request a display parking pass if you are planning on bringing a vehicle to display on the club stand (note, the parking pass will be sent out two weeks before the event. Entry tickets will be sent out immediately.) *Calls cost 7 pence per minute plus your phone company’s access charge.

OTHER INFORMATION

Want to buy extra entry tickets after you’ve already completed your original purchase? Just call 0843 453 9000, give them the club code

DHF_Z3637TK

and explain that you just need passenger tickets, not parking passes.

Want to buy extra entry tickets and get another parking pass after you’ve completed your original purchase? Either call and follow the ‘order by phone’ instructions above or follow the original online order process.

Booking online but not arriving in a club display car? If you plan to arrive in a non-club car so will be parking in the public car park, please write that information in the ‘Background Information On Your Vehicle’ box where prompted, and you won’t be sent a club parking pass (you will obviously still receive your entry ticket/s).

Need additional parking passes (not entry tickets) or to amend the details of your registered display car? Email Karen Coe - karen@historicpromotions.com or call her on 07540 725821.

Not sure I will be doing this one this year. Getting in to the last one was a joke and getting back out even worse as they still hadn't sorted that track on the infield and it had more and deeper potholes than the time before. Nearly f****d up my suspension trying to avoid them and I felt really sorry for a really low Ford GT40 in front of me that really bottomed out badly. If they haven't done anything about it, I'm not sure I want to take the risk.

Having said that, I do enjoy the drive to and from Donington from Bristol even if my SatNav wants to take us on a scenic route.

I quite fancy this, good to see an event being proposed that is fairly central (to England at least). Any suggestions for accommodation? Preferably somewhere with reasonable over night parking, found this, any views. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel..._View_Hotel-Melbourne_Derbyshire_England.html

Also, does the Vehicle Entry Pass include the cost of entry for the driver or do you also have to buy a separate entry ticket to enable you to drive in with your vehicle?

Thanks Paul

Didn't we use a different entrance last year and use the tunnel by the chicane? I can't remember it being the old route.

Hi Paul,

There is a good crowd at the Crossroads Motel that Steve mentioned above and another crowd at the Yew Lodge in Kegworth, both good places.

The tickets are purchased seperately to the vehicle entry pass. The tickets get you access and then the vehicle pass is free so you can display on the stand, hope that helps.

Cheers,

JK

Just in case any newer members mis-understand the heading of this Thread - the meeting is not just for Samuri cars.

I will be there, I love it. My favourite show apart from the 'biggies' Le Mans and Spa.

Thanks Jonathan, I'd phoned the ticket office today to confirm what my requirements were - so a vehicle pass for me and the car and an additional entry ticket for my wife, with discount £35 all in EXTRA:D I've booked a room at the Melbourne View mentioned above for the Saturday night because its right next to the event and I like their car park as it looks pretty concealed. My wife doesn't drink so if there's an opportunity to socialise away from our hotel in the evening then she'll be able to drive  I've booked the hotel with a cancellation option as unfortunately I won't drive down from Cumbria if the weather isn't favorable. Looking forward to the event and thanks for all the effort that those have put in to organise

Yes Rob, we did. The problem was that entry was allowed through 3 different entrances and all converged into 1 narrow road which went under an even narrower tunnel with pedestrians in the mix. We waited around 45 minutes and moved 20 yards - not good when you have travelled for 3 hours & really needed a pee!!:(. You couldn't leave the vehicle if you were the driver. lots of cars overheating & people getting frustrated.

Ok well unfortunately you were just unlucky I think.

Don't let that put you or new members off, it's a great event.

I was able to get there early - perhaps stay locally?

We'd love to see everyone on this 50th year and Jon puts a lot of work into making this a success.

Think it may depend on what time you get there as for me at least it was the best and easiest entrance for a few years and moving the entrance away from the one they used for the last 3 years was IMHO a fantastic improvement

Rob/Steve,
Thanks for the support guys, MSV are putting a lot of money and effort into making Donington a great venue and things like access and visitor facilities are much improved. It’d be nice if club members supported what is, imho, probably the biggest and best Z meet of the year.

Cheers,

JK.
