Just like the 5% vat that most of us get away with. We are making an illegal declaration and hoping no one checks. One day they will check.
Tell me more? I thought this was completely legitimate for all fairly standard classic cars of this age....

My car has been sitting in a container for 2 weeks in California.... I think they are waiting for a second car before they ship it. shipping with Rinkens

It technically has to be stock or as near as stock as reasonably practical to be counted as the 5% duty car. Any modifications should make it 20%
Yes, I thought the BTI ruling of 5% import duty is completely legitimate. Not sure what johnymd thinks he is mis-declaring ... !
I've been THOROUGHLY disappointed with Rinkens. It's taken them 6 months to get my 2nd Datsun shipped over, and they FORGOT to ship a large crate at the same time - I had paid extra for special container shipping and my crate is STILL in the US warehouse - it's been almost exactly a year since I transferred them the funds to initially ship. It's a big shame as my first car (the blue one) came over with very little issues
yes that's what I think is the reasonIs this because it is in a container? And they're waiting for another one to fill it up?
three weeks on the docks today, no news from Rinkens
its in a container on the docks, since they are not responding to emails atm I doubt it sorryStill potentially time for me to have a couple of bits dropped in the boot then?
