I have stock bushes on my current 240Z (all new). It’s fairly stiff standard to be honest and is nice on the road... however my old 240Z was polybushed, had wider wheels on the front and a V8 upfront... the steering felt lighter and more precise on that. Perhaps the Gaz coilovers helped somewhat I don’t really know what else to put it down too.

Yes, keep us informed please. Until we started to be 'flooded' with US imports (ha ha) bodyshells in this condition were very rare. I'm missing the pictures of rust and botched repairs.

Anyway you have a great facility to work in and what is that 'single-seater' body off please?

OEM route much more expensive, plus you can't get moustache bar bushes or retaining plates, rack bushes or anti-roll bar mounting bushes for front.
OEM steering coupler is soft and useless IMO.

I popped in the body shop yesterday to see what’s what and removed the rear bumper and a few other things. Dave has given the roof and bonnet their first skin and welded up the rot in the door jams. Starting to feel more like progress....

Then sadly some horrors were discovered....

With this being a full restoration, no shortcuts are to be had and the rot needs chopping out and replaced.

I took the opportunity to catalogue all the spare parts for storage until after the paint job.

The suspension parts were also blasted and painted.

I’m undecided what to do about the wheels. Were they originally highly polished?

When new I would have thought. Some have a matt appearance though. And some are chrome. The dealer alloys were all different because I presume the dealers did deals with different manufacturers. What make are they? Saccy might know better.

I don't know, I was just thinking too many steps ahead again.

I also have to repaint the engine which is in a different location. I was unsure of the colour but is appears they were originally painted turquoise?

Is that right or were other colours available too?

Looks like you're making some great progress, keep the updates coming!

I believe I'm correct in saying that all engine blocks were that blue/turquoise colour, certainly the only colour I've ever seen mentioned as factory.

All the bushes etc are being replaced anyway. My guy taped up the essential bits and then cuts off the bushes.
