Hi

just an update for anyone whos interested, I had the guy from SGS around yesterday to do the DVLA inspection. As Johnymd said it is only an ID check, the guy checked all the chassis numbers 4 in total on the 260z and the engine number. He took photos of all the numbers and a few shots of th car from different angles including an under bonnet one. He made some notes on his lap top it took about 20 mins max and was straight forward. With a bit of luck i should have a V5 soon. total time from recieving the DVLA letter to inspection was just over 2 weeks.

Thanks Ron. I have mine next Thursday, so at least I know what to expect. Did he say how long util the plate and V5 are issued? Or did he just say 'soon'?

The guy on the phone from SGS said two weeks ma to me as well. Presumably they employ guys remotely round the country to do this stuff, they can't all be coming from one location very time?

End of next week then for mine then I reckon. L reg, hopefully (Aug '72).Are they just random reg numbers? Or anything to do with the old area ones? I registered one of my old Mustangs (imported) in 2004 and I got FAV 193C as the reg, (AV being Peterborough) - but of course that was from the old local licencing centres (one of which was in my city).

If you see American cars at shows, quite a few of them have FAV at the front - especially if '65 cars - you just got the next number in line. I nearly bought FAV 168C as well ('65 fastback) so I had a pair.

Or am I as likely to get HYG 765L as UKN 900L? (ie just random) but originally un-issued I presume ...

Most of my ‘72-‘73 cars were SCA***L. 2 of them were sequential numbering. Both ‘76 280’s also started with OBU so it would appear that none of it is random.
