vehicle dating letter

To whom do I address the inquiry, I've had the usual run in with the DVLA over vehicle age proof, seems common sense has no place there any more.

They're insisting on a letter on headed paper etc, so if anyone can point me in the right direction please.

Cheers Mark

Hi Mark,

This is the e-mail address for Nissan Japan.

Postoffice@nissan.co.jp

Send them full details of your car and what you require and they will send you a letter back on headed Nissan paper with the info you need, very efficient and worked for me when I needed it.

Cheers,

JK

Thanks for the reply I'll forward you the details later on today.

Cheers Mark

A quick update on the situation, I received the dating letters from. Mike F. and Ali and duly sent it to the DVLA, sadly today they've sent me a reply to to saying that what I have sent them is insufficient proof according to thier policy department.

I phoned today to try and clarify the situation but they were their usual unhelpful selves and the person dealing with the case will phone me Monday.

Suffice to say I am spitting feathers currently, I don't know what the hell these people want from me, that I haven't already provided on more than one occasion, it feels like I'm banging my head on a wall with these box ticking script reading.....

Ooooh that is annoying. Did they say why it was insufficient or give examples of what they need? Seems to have been OK for others so intrigued as to why this instance was different.

I find speaking with the DVLA it's a case of becoming a Buddhist monk and the centre of calm. You need to ignore the annoyances and keep at them. Hang in there.

I appreciate where you are coming from Ali as far as I concerned we've already given them exactly what the letter stated they require, as best as I can work out they're taking the piddle, if I don't get a call by Monday afternoon I'll chase them up until I get something other than the usual crap

i had the exact same issues so im currently waiting till next year when its officially recognized as a historic vehicle even though it turned 40 (registered date) back in February this year.
out of curiosity why are you looking for a dating letter? is it to make it historic for the tax exemption?

Hi Jimbo yes I would like to have it correct historic status mine was 1st registered on 20th Jan 78.

The issue is that the DVLA have rejected the letter from Zclub as proof of age. I'm awaiting details of the reasons for this but I'm not holding my breath.

Well the silver lining is that I didn't apply for mine (1977) and paid the tax just to enjoy the car. A year later (July 2018), without applying, I received a V5 with historic status, followed by a letter from the DVLA two weeks later saying I have incorrectly taxed my car, followed by a refund cheque two weeks later!!! Go figure.

If nothing else, the DVLA are consistent in being totally inconsistent!!!!!!!

Your car isn't classed as historic yet! It needs to be registered before 1st Jan 78 (see the DVLA website -https://www.gov.uk/historic-vehicles/vehicles-exempt-from-vehicle-tax ) . If it was registered after 1 Jan 78 then you will have to wait until after 1 Jan 19 to register it as historic - it always runs a year in arrears. That is why they turned you down. Try again on 2 Jan 19.

Did the law change? When mine became historic they accepted proof it was made before Jan 1975 even though it was registered March 1975.

Given mine had build date in 1977 it is in the historic class please see the DVLA website for details

According to the charmers at the DVLA despite being 1st registered on 20th Jan 78 it wasn't built until Dec 78! When dealing with a warped sense of what's right or wrong like that mere mortals like us don't stand a chance lol
