So now I have a 280Z with a L28 280ZX, and a 240Z with a L26 engine in it....

The 240 I’ll return to original, but the 280 is going full Mad Max...

Is there any value is getting a L24 engine for the 240?

The v5 will only say what the importer put down as the engine number so it will only be possible to find out the original engine number from the ali vin plate in the engine bay.

The importer put down engine number 'unknown' in the V5 application box as he sometimes does when wanting to keep options open EXTRA:D

The next question I have is that the seatbelts are lap belt only, which is a quaint touch but imagine they wouldn’t be too good in a crash. Are original 3 point seatbelts available out there?

Also, switched the steering wheel over to the new Momo...

Feels better already...

No unless you can get the original block?
I’d second this. Also worth pointing out that the L26 is exactly the same block as an L24, just with the larger stroke crank and rods as per an L28. So, you’d be swapping a P30 block, E88 head engine for another P30/E88, just with less stroke. Not worth the effort. Worth noting a great many 240Zs have L28s in them - more torque and power potential.
