Making a 240z shell 'rolling'

Right, as some of you may be aware I've been having serious problems getting the paint sorted on my completely stripped Z.

It needs to go back to the paint shop again and after already sending it to the paint shop and back again on the dolly it's a headache I don't really want to repeat.

What's the bare minimum I'll need to reassemble onto the car to be able to roll it on and off a trailer? Can I leave the diff out for example or will the rear suspension collapse without it?

For the rear you need drop links, crossmembers for drop links and front arm support, rear arms and struts with stub axles and companion flanges.
For the front you need crossmember, lower arms, tie rods, ball joints, steering knuckles, and struts with hubs.

Although not required to roll the car you will need a rack in place so both wheels point in roughly the same direction. Adding the steering column, pedal box, linkage and steering wheel will also make moving it around a whole lot easier.

You don't need the diff but you will need the bracket because it locates the wishbones.

Really sorry to here your having issues with the painter. This is so often the case with old cars. Time is money and redoing something means they are losing money. Some painter resent that while other accept that things can go wrong and they have to put it right. My red car needs to go back and have a few panels stripped back to metal and redone. They are telling me it is no problem and they will fix it but I'm sure they are not looking forward to not being paid for 2 days work. They priced the job on 7.5 days work and it took them just over that and now another 2 days on top due to a paint reaction.

Hope is gets resolved soon and you can get on with enjoying the rest of the build and driving the car.

Sorry to hear that, I had issues with paint first time round. which made me ignore the car for 18months. Currently in paint prison again, so I feel your pain.

Thanks guys, it's such a headache. They've done some of the removable panels twice but it's still not right - it such a shame as when they pay attention they can get the finish like glass!

Also feck, this means I'm going to have to get the remains of the spindle pins pressed out.

Sorry to hear this dude, really had my fingers crossed for you that they'd have sorted it out for you by now!

You never know with those spindle pins, mine were actually very straight forward....

Already had to cut the damn things into three pieces with a hacksaw, just need to press the middle out. Tried everything first, the washer trick, heat etc. Nothing could budge them.

You probably know but it's apparently normally either rust or the pin deformed by the lock doodah being over tightened (or both). Lots of heat and oil should go a long way to help.

I'll go quietly back off to my corner, obviously got very lucky....

Can't you just bolt the dolly on again - surely that is less of a headache than having to put all the above stuff on again only to take it off again?

A decently located substantial dolly should be easier to attach again ...

I've moved a few shells around on expensive dolly's but unless its purpose built for a zed with welded joints and bolted to the car, the shell can easily more around on it. It is a pain but I prefer it on wheels.

If you want to borrow some suspension I'm sure I can sort out all the bits you need. You will probably have to pop down and pick it up though.

Apparently they got someone in to help cover a busy period and they turned out to be crap, unfortunately they did my car and it went back to me before anyone realised. Paint runs, chips, bad masking etc.

I've got mine sat on a temp wooden dolly, its been on and off its temp dolly for about 4-5 years, traveled about 300 miles on it also. what about knocking something like that up?
