Proof of vehicle age for registration.

Although "1976" is written on virtually every document I sent to DVLA it appears this is not sufficient for registration. please can you advise whom I approach for confirmation of vehicle age ? presume it'll involve joining the club.

Are you trying to register an import or change an existing uk car to historic class? I have never had a single problem in all the cars I have done both for. I have also never had to provide a vehicle dating letter. What info are you providing?

Registering an import, provided NOVA & certification of title amongst paper work sent but they are asking for export certificate & proof of exact age. I was led to believe that proof of NOVA covered export / import into the country...….got a jobsworth

I’ve never provided any nova documents as they just check if duty has been paid. I fill in the v555 form and include mot, insurance, id, us title document, plus payment. Never had an issue. The us title is proof of age and the fact that it’s on the nova system means that duty has been paid.

I have imported and registered 7 Zed’s now with no problems. I have filled in all the import paperwork and paid the duty myself though so maybe there is an issue with this paperwork or the car itself. I take it you didn’t import it?

I’ve had trouble proving the age of the car. Let me know if you have any luck and how you get evidence. I have about 9 months to try get mine changed from 1984 (year it was first registered in country I exported from) despite the car having spent 4 years prior to that in another country.

I had sent my request to Mr.F but that was in May and I haven’t heard back as to when it will turn up. Not sure if he is still doing these.

I was lucky as this was simple for me too. Didn't even consider I might have to prove it as I assumed the Title was enough proof.

What's the issue? Why won't they take the date registered/manufactured (from the export title) as proof enough?

I take it "Mr F" Is part of the Z club and usually helps with these matters ? I joined yesterday but expect it'll take a few days to receive confirmation, will let you know how I get on.

I don’t think this is dealt with by Mike anymore.

Have you spoken to anyone at the DVLA with regard to what’s required? I alway like to have a friendly chat with people over the phone and have done this with the DVLA before. They were extremely helpful when I got them on my side. Talk nicely with people and you will be surprised how helpful they can be.
