Hey Robbsy,

Welcome to the Zclub!!!

You clearly have good taste in cars.

The 240 is of course the one people look for as the golden child but it didn't worry me at all to have the 260 and I found the engine a lot more tractable and willing low down.

The 280 was never a UK market car but a good car in its own right if you change the crazy large bumpers.

Are you bothered by RHD / LHD?

What sort of budget are you looking at?

Are you looking for a project car or a sorted drive and polish car?

Give us more details and ask lots of questions - but don't just buy the first one you see! [emoji6]

260 is the better car. Even Nissan say so.[emoji16]

This is what's known as 'The Big Mac Defence'.

Well, they outsell soufflés here so must be better.:p

But, do you agree sir, that a 260Z is a better car than a 240Z and then the evolution stopped with it being the definitive export S30 ?:boxing:

Define "better car"? I think it is extremely subjective...

While we are at it, we might want to define "260Z" and "240Z". What variant? What year/month? What market?

If we are talking *better at being a 'Sports Car'*, there might be other S30-series models that (out) qualify...

The needle's stuck....:)

I knew I'd tread into a minefield.:svengo:

So if "better" car is subjective, my view of the 280Z being better remains valid.

I think the entire, worldwide S30 range offers something for somebody and if it isn't to their liking and they prefer to stay within the gamme, they can 'improve' to suit.

One thing is for sure, the RLS30/260Z in standard US spec. is a poor relation. Ralph Nader inspired emission controls and 5mph bumper tests meant flat top carbs and oversized bumpers on the '74 model year hence this is the least desirable and cheapest S30 in the land of the Big Mac.

BUT......... how many cars retain original spec. these days......... most/many engine swapped, box swapped, suspension upgraded etc so BEST is a hypothetical let alone subjective question as we all know ;)

That is one of my cars, in storage at Bicester Heritage to give a closer opportunity to would be buyers in the South/South East as I spend most of my time in Devon.

Send me a pm if you want more details or a viewing. Mind you, if you take AliK's advice and don't buy the first one you see, please make sure you have seen another one before arranging a viewing :EXTRAlol:
