What EMS/ECU are you using on an L engine?

As noted over on my Nodiz thread, my Nodiz plan fell through, so now I'm looking at starting the journey to full injection/electronic management. I thought I'd start with running a full EMS but ignition only.
If you're running injection with an aftermarket ECU on your L engine, what are you running, and would you recommend it?

I know Emerald is popular, MS3 in the US. Motorsport Electronics have offered me a good price on their ME442 but I can't find anyone using it and don't want to be the guinea pig.

my mate has a Motorsport electronics one in his turbo Mx5 and really likes it and said it is based on megasquirt .I have a Canems ecu and not long had it running but i did like the fact that it came with a handy manual and a wiring loom which you dont always get with other systems.I got it via http://www.lloydspecialistdevelopments.co.uk/

Thanks Mike. Do you know which ME one it is? The motorsport electronics guys are adamant it’s not based on megasquirt!
Canems was recommended on my nodiz thread.

DTA with coil on plugs and slide throttle multi injection. DTA S80 has all the bells and whistles

It was Me221 ecu which plugs straight in to a Mx5

Go with the one that your chosen engine tuner recommends would be my best advice. They all have their preferred one, and it's really down to the tuner to ensure that you maximise on the ECUs functions, tricks etc...

Life Racing F88 on both my blue 1jz turbo car and the silver rat look L-series. It is extremely complex but if your into tweaking and tuning yourself it is very good. The data logging is superb and will record fraction of a cycle events so you can analyse parameters per cylinder. Closed loop lambda and knock control per cylinder and cycle are a must and to effectively control these you need a fast ECU.

For most people the low end slow ECU's (sub £1500) are fine if you just want a nice drivable car with a safe map for all weather conditions. If you want to get the best possible performance that the pressure and temperature of the day will provide then look for a fast ECU that can keep up with per cylinder lambda and knock. The higher end ECU's will also have all the gadgets like launch, traction control, water injection, nitrous, torque reduction per gear and revs, flat clutchless shifting, and so on.
