New Toy

I've always fancied a 944 as a run around and the 968 looks a more appealing (for rarity) twist on it. How different is this version from the CS? Is the suspension the same for example?

I quite liked the 944 but the 968 just kinda does it for me, I like it's styling and it's rarity as you mention, Club Sport prices have doubled in the past few years though like Z's so the Sport was still relatively good value for money, a good bit more than any 944's out there but I think I bought this car well, particularly with its lower owners and amazing Porsche history.

In 1994 and 1995, because the CS wasn't really selling in the UK, Porsche GB ordered a total of 306 cars from the Club Sport production line for import. Superficial spec changes included the addition of the Club Sport luxury package option which was things like electric windows and mirrors, power sunroof, power opening tailgate and the comfort Sports seats instead of the hard back recaros. These cars, marketed to attract British buyers looking for a little more comfort, were badged in the UK as 'Sport'. Apparantly Porsche Germany still lists them as Club Sports on their Certificates of Authenticity and the Sport badge is a UK only derivative.

As Flanky mentioned earlier the CS has a couple of other M030 and M220 options of LSD, cross drilled front brakes, stiffer springs and dampers, however these where options even on Club Sports and they dont necessarily all have them fitted. Mine has Bilstein CS spec adjustables fitted.

Sorry, I'm sure much of that is of no interest to the majority of this forum's readers :D

It’s not that Long ago a real nice one was £7k.

They’re now the tail end of Porsche price hysteria. Still a good buy I think.

It won’t take a year or more to sell like your last toy either, so easy to get out of if you want a change.

They supercharge nicely too ;)

Only issue I had was a niggle with the cams(iirc) or similar.

I’m envious as they’re a great car

Yes I'm sure they are a great car.

I've no idea what you paid for it Jonathan but yes there are a lot of sporty cars that you can buy for the price of a 240/260Z.

Two years ago I sold my unmarked 370Z that I'd had from just one thousand miles for £12k .

I'm hoping it's on the up curve Rob, whereas a 370Z which I did consider briefly are still depreciating. One of the reasons I discounted it....

Sportsmans guess without knowing milage would be about 15k? Bargain really when you think what sort of s30 family that'd get.

Would imagine closer to £20k. Club Sports are £35k plus now. Boat sailed with rest of Porsche market.

I did say ish :)

I'd say £17k.

The Ferrari Place near us had a really really nice one for £19k(1 owner) about a month ago. I'd like another, however if I get the chance it'll be a z3m coupe

Thanks JK - interior looks fantastic. Now, those wool mats, are they the ones held down with the clips you rotate once you've gone through them? Not sure if they were a Porsche option ...

Have to say, that looks clean as a whistle, inside! Great choice!

Does the clock work ;)

Cheers Mike, it is pretty spotless inside and the mats are the ones with the quarter turn clips, not sure if they are a genuine part or not but the do the job, and yes the clock and the stopwatch both work :D

I think they are genuine as mine has them (and the same mats obv) but one of mine has broken and I've never seen that kind of one - all the others are for the earlier 944s ...

How bright are the dash lights out of interest? Notoriously bad on the 944 ... wondered if they had changed the design much by the time of yours ...
