Another Z for me

Have just purchased myself another Z. One just isn't enough :D A 280Z this time. I'm hoping to use this one as more of a good weather daily driver. Going to lose the rear bumper, replace the front bumper with a non 5mph job. Replace the exhaust system. Recover the seats. New carpets. New steering wheel. Give some attention to a few areas of the paint. Rip a bunch of emissions gubbins out from the engine bay. Replace a few tired bits & bobs. Seal the underside. And that will be about it for the near future. A big thanks to Chris for supplying the car ;)

Good stuff! It’s a cool project car that one. Nice enough for incremental improvement while enjoying it. If I wasn’t doing my 240Z project, that could’ve really tempted me.

Plus, you buying it gives me a little more room in the barn for a while (depending on what Chris has incoming)! Not that there’s much left to do on Dixie before she’s ready for dipping and metalwork...

Nice running project ... that front bumer looks HUGE in that pic - gotta lighten the car a fair amount upon removal.

You have even more room to work on Dixie at the moment as my white 240Z in that barn has gone off to have the gearbox rebuilt. Bought second or third hand from a European forum member on here. Allegedly one of those expensive fully reconditioned 5 speed units sold on US eBay by company in CA. but never used or fitted:unsure: The casing looked nice and shiny anyway  Lasted all of 100 miles until lost gears 3/4/5 and reverse.

To add to the misery, mice have taken a liking to the ITG foam air filters and chomped their way through both before deciding to take refuge from the cold weather inside the car. Teeth marks on the seats but not too much damage, just a horrible smell of mice wee and a few poops to clean up. Suffice to say poison and traps have now been employed with a vengeance and doubt there are any mice within a 100 metre radius now

Enjoy the 280Z Jake, a great buy
Look forward to following it's progress with interest.

ps. UKFB66 Bumpers with fittings on the car weigh in at about 35kg the pair ! Have taken plenty of them off and still lying around as can't bring myself to bin them. Worth money in the States but can't imagine much of a demand here.....

Yikes! Little bastards! I hadn’t considered an active mouse threat in the barn! I wouldn’t have noticed though given the mountain of mouse turd imported in my car!

At this point, Dixie just needs the windscreen removing, brake and fuel lines removing, same for remaining handbrake hardware in the tunnel, and a few broken bolts drilling out and she’s ready for the next stage. Either welding and modding, and then trip to Enviro-Strip, or the other way around. Suspension and running gear is all in my garage being dismantled and prepped for blasting and powder coating. I’m starting to entertain ideas of the shell being in final paint by the end of the year and assembled into a rolling chassis. Maybe a functional vehicle for summer 2019...

280z..........the next 240!!

Well maybe. Maybe not. Certainly an interesting Z development of its time outside the UK. Basically an emissions response in the US. For those younger members of the forum they were never built for nor ever available new here.

But shares the same type code as the 240Zs over here.;)

Surprised the bumpers only weigh 35 kilos between them to be honest, he felt heavier than that when I took mine to the tip
