Donington Historic Ticket info

So that it didn't get lost in the original post, I thought I'd start a new thread with regards to the ticket information for the Samuri Gathering at Donington Historic in May as now that MSV have taken over there have been some significant changes to the way you have to buy your tickets and ensure your car has access to the infield.

Please take some time to read the info below as it's a little more complex than earlier years, and please make sure tickets are bought before the deadline as, again with MSV being in control, I won't be able to help with late tickets.

Cheers,

JK

CLUB BOOKING SYSTEM FOR
DONINGTON HISTORIC FESTIVAL

HOW DO I BUY MY CLUB TICKETS?

All club tickets must be booked by 5pm on Friday, April 20th 2018

All club bookings must be made online - it is not possible to book club tickets over the phone.

The following booking link is unique to your club:

https://shop.msv.com/DisplayCar/Register/DP-18-Historic?club=120

When you first go onto the page using this link you will be asked to register and create a password if you don’t already have an MSV account - you only have to do that once. If you already have an MSV account then you just need to login on this page.

The club bookings are handled through the Display Vehicle Registration system, so once you are logged in you will be taken to the display booking system and presented with the display car booking terms and conditions. Tick the box at the bottom of the page to say that you accept the rules for displaying a vehicle.

You will then be taken to the next page:

Select your club
You will be asked to confirm which club you are attending with. If you have clicked on your club’s unique URL shown at the top of this document, your club name should already show in the box (see ‘Select who are you are attending with’ in the image left, where the Austin Healey Club appears as an example). If your club name is not automatically in that box, click on the arrow to open the drop-down club list and select your club. It is important that you select the right club.

Select the day or days on which you are going.

IMPORTANT - the Display Vehicle Pass also acts as the event entry ticket for the driver of the vehicle. By ‘buying’ a Display Vehicle Pass you are actually buying your entry ticket and getting the parking pass for your car for the infield*. You will see the full prices displayed, but once you progress through the booking system your 50% club discount will be applied.

Tell us about your club display car*
You then need to complete the required information on your club display car*. You will also be asked to upload a photograph of your car. If you don’t have one readily to hand, it’s fine to upload a generic car image but it means we won’t be able to see what you are bringing and you will miss out on the opportunity to have your car mentioned in our event publicity. -. You do not need to complete the ‘background information about this vehicle’ box unless your car is particularly interesting and you would like us to be aware of it.

Next steps and further tickets
If you only need a Display Vehicle Pass/driver entry ticket for one vehicle you can now press ‘Submit Request’ and proceed through the payment system.

If you only need a Display Vehicle Pass/driver entry ticket for one vehicle but want to buy additional, non-driver tickets at the 50% discount for passengers, click on ‘Submit Request’ then select the option on the following page to progress to buying additional tickets - these will be at the club discount price.

If you need more than one Display Vehicle Pass/driver entry ticket (for example if you are booking for yourself and a friend and you will both be driving your cars to the event), please select ‘Add another vehicle’ and add the details of the second car and its driver. You can do this for up to six cars and drivers if you need to. Then click on ‘Submit Request’ and follow the process as outlined above.

WHEN WILL I GET MY TICKETS?

These will come in two separate stages:

1. Your passenger tickets will be E-tickets will be available immediately upon purchase for you to download, unless you select the option to have your tickets posted to you (a charge applies).

2. The Display Vehicle Pass/driver entry ticket will be emailed to you two weeks before the event. This is because we allocate club parking positions once club ticket sales close, and your club parking code will appear on your Display Vehicle Pass/driver entry ticket.

*NOT BRINGING A CAR TO DISPLAY ON YOUR CLUB STAND?
We appreciate that sometimes club members attend the event but don’t have a car ready to display on their stand. If you are not planning on bringing a car to display at the event, please complete the display car information anyway, even if it’s for a vehicle that isn’t eligible for the infield - you need to do this to generate your own entry ticket - but make a note in the ‘background information’ box on the vehicle info screen that you will park the car in the public car park. You will still receive a Display Vehicle Pass/entry ticket (sent out two weeks before the event as outlined above) but please do not use it to park in the infield - please take your car to the public car park and then use your Display Vehicle Pass/entry ticket to gain admission to the event.

ANY QUESTIONS?
If you have any specific queries about the club booking system, please email karen@historicpromotions.com

We hope you have a fantastic time at the Donington Historic Festival!

All club tickets must be booked by 5pm on Friday, April 20th 2018

If you're planning on attending on Sat & Sun only then be sure to buy the 3 day ticket as it works out cheaper ;) £17 for 3 days or £21 for 2 days

It's a bit more complex than previous years Rob, but hopefully people will manage to get booked.

Jonathan, is it possible to get 2 cars in on the one pass? I don't know whether I would need to but if I wanted to bring different cars on different days is that a possibility?

You know me I like to complicate things.

All previous years never once had anyone look at the pass just as long as it hung on the mirror it seemed fine

Another thing that has been stated is that only 30 year old cars will be allowed in the infield but on their website it has been stated that if the car was newer but of a relevant model to the cars that any club dealt with they would be allowed into the infield

I don't think so Rob, as I understand it if you change the type of car you input when you register, which you can technically do, it cancels the ticket. But I'll add it to my question list, I have a few already...

This was all pre-MSV though, it may be different from now on...?

If they upheld that rule half the PCGB stand would be empty as it's full of far more 997's and Cayman/Boxster than it is classic Porsche

Then I vote they uphold that rule because I get so p155ed off seeing all those new & nearly new porsches at classic car meets. Leave them outside in the punters car park, or better still leave them at home. :)

I agree Jake, I've a soft spot for Porsche models as I sold 'em new for quite a few years, but at a classic car meet...no.

I suspect though that the organisers might worry that they'd upset a big stand (and affect ticket sales ;)) if they did force the age thing..?

Well as I feel a bit argumentative I am coming up in Paul Wrangles 370 Nismo and the people at the Donnington Historic say that is fine as it is part of the Fairlady Z range and will be allowed to enter the infield parking

So!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a classic car event. That's cars over 25 years old isn't it?
If I hold & promote a classic rock gig and then book a bunch of current kids pop acts to perform am I not falsely promoting the event. Would I not p155 off all those rockers who came along for the classic rocks bands? I think so ;)

A couple of local events I attend put all the new cars on the far side of the site away from the classics. It's a great idea ;) Even if I did get asked to park my Z with said new cars one time. I soon pointed out that my classic was over 40 years old much to the numpties surprise

Jake, if a modern car was entered in one of the races I might agree. I don't have a problem with modern cars as long as they are 'special'. After all the old ones get more attention anyway just like the bands probably.

You wanna watch out it doesn't get rolled & torched!

Don't worry Steve I'm only jesting :p I new you would chirp up with a comment like that as didn't we have this convo at an event last year?

Maybe the only reason they are allowing modern cars in such as the 350Z & 370Z is to stop people complaining about all the new porsches.

Perhaps it's time they changed the name of the event.

OK my audi is 'special', maybe I should show up in that?

And would I want to sit through all those kids pop acts while waiting for the classics? I think you know the answer ;)

Classic car show is wot I meant rob,I use to organise the matching green classic car show till someone stuck their nose in and took over without informing me about three years ago,but that started to get a little bit modern looking with novas and scooby’s turning up now the Z club doesn’t have a stand there now, shame really it was such a lovely show we would have a really good turnout with mainly 249/260s how I wish people wouldn’t stick their noses in sometimes

Info re 370Zs etc:

If you're attending DHF with one of the many car clubs registered with us and you book using the booking information provided by your club organisers, you'll get our special club deal of a 50% discount on advance discounted tickets and be able to park your car on your club stand. And, so long as your car is 'club appropriate', we don't place any age restrictions on it.
