I thought it 'apt' to show this.

Bit of poetic licence re 'we built it ourselves' and 'it's to the works spec of the 1972 car' but he is a great guy and gave my old car a new lease of life for a couple of years.

It's strange to look at the car and remember the welding/filling/engine and gearbox rebuilds etc

Rob: Did it have a slipper in it? If it did would explain probably why he talks about understeer if the the diff wasn't set up right.

It had an LSD installed for Zac by Duncan. I assume it was a Quaife.

I completely understand his description of driving a 240 is slippery conditions and experienced it myself but also when Duncan took me around the rally stage at Oulton Park. He was getting understeer everywhere, his son Tim took me out and grabbed it by the scruff of the neck and also used the handbrake a lot. So much quicker and safer.

Guys, yes an LSD will be able to push the car a bit more in slippery conditions but basically it will have a tendency to understeer and it's safer to drive it with the tail out. That's all he was saying.

In snow drive like the Scandinavians.

I think the long bonnet and rear seating position make it feel more cumbersome than something like an Escort. He has an RS1600 and I think that will be the car he's doing the 2018 event with.

The car has been withdrawn from the auction - did anyone see it there?

Anyway me and my lads went karting last week. We did ok and I reckon I was 30 years older than anyone else and probably heavier too .

More fun in that than any modern 911.
You can drive all 95 horses to the limit, that's where the fun's at ;)
Remember James Hunt, his chariot of choice for racing around town was an old A35 van for the same reasons.
