Retro swap values

These types of cars - standard, workaday cars which were nothing special in their day suit these types of mods otherwise their only market is as a Sunday afternoon showcar for nostalgic old timers. Retro gives them a new lease of life and much wider ( younger) potential marketplace.

Zs already have what these mods are seeking to achieve, in standard form. Putting a "better" engine in a Z may make it faster, but does it make it more desirable come sale time?

I think it would be fair to say that in the case of the Cortina, it is the car that needs the upgrades, but with the Z it's the owner!

I do like the retro look, especially the ultra clean engine bays and pastel colours) but personally I can't see modified Z ( or any true "classic" cars) prices outstripping standard car values.

Very much agree with that, and the Cortina looks really good for it IMO

as an example, who wants a standard mk1 escort 1.3? it might be completely original but god is it boring, I'd happily pay more for a retro modded example over a concourse standard one any day

I do of course much prefer a Z to an escort!

I don't think any of us build our cars to make a profit of for the next owner so it's all a bit irelavent.

High end limited number cars are often worth more if kept original but budget cars like escorts and zeds are probably more desirable when "improved". More desirable to me anyway.
