............ Race was cut to 20mins as there was a crash at first corner off grid .......

I've no idea if I'm correct but there seems to be an increasing amount of accidents and stoppages/safety cars/red flags these days.

When I went to Donington the races were poor for spectators with lots of hanging around and waiting for restarts etc. In fact one race was red-flagged because they realised that there were too many cars in the race (above the limit)!

Are drivers getting more reckless, less concerned about crashing because the cars are very safe, more money around from sponsors or are the organisers more inclined to stop the race for H&S worries/responsibilities.

If I was at Oulton Park for a 40 min race and only got 20 mins I'd be frustrated and feel cheated out of my entry money. Especially if it was caused by someone trying to win a 40 min race at the first corner.

I watch a lot of recorded motor-racing on TV and there aren't many races that don't have lots of crashes in them.

And then we have 'track limits' - on many tracks cars are completely off the circuit to cut corners or run wide. It's a joke - how can you have lap records when drivers take different lines outside the circuit?

It looks like things went well at Brands Hatch last weekend. I think the car finished 6th and led for a good while.

I didn't go to Brands but it has a mention in Motorsport News - which I subscribe to and don't read in the newsagent ;).

Dean's car actually finished first Rob. It was 6th overall but he wasn't racing against the first 13 cars as they were all in different classes. I believe the next place in his class was in 15th place. A very good result.

A bloody good result - they even qualified 2nd overall and a shame he doesn't much come on here now but I follow his videos and see a few photos.

I've looked at the full results John and with respect to Dean and Wil you can't discount people in other classes - they make up the race and you are 'dicing' with them on the track. Also they may be in different classes but not necessarily expected to beat you. The 240 was beaten by a Mini and an MGB for example.

In that recent rally I mentioned, the Datsun won it's class (only one car in it!)
and has been shown as a Class winner in the results but it was actually next to last i.e. it beat 1 car. You couldn't say that it had won.

Anyway I'm really pleased that the Dean and Wil had a good run and their lap times were consistent which generally shows that you are in control. The driver 'change-over' appears to have been slick too.
