My fiche indicates part number 25230-N3400 is an "Assy - Relay Passing & Dimmer", but not sure how helpful that is!

The headlight wiring is red with a tracer colour, white/yellow/blue, but it doesnt use a relay AFAIK

there also seems to be a white with red tracer wire in there, which is main feed wiring is it not?

Looks like headlights then?

I am incorporating the wiring loom into the Soarer wiring loom for the 1JZ conversion including fuse box etc. So working out how far into each circuit I need to go so everything works best without doubling up on anything or burning it down.

Here is the relevant section of the R-Drive fiche, with the part highlighted. The part covers various years, but has the same function through that period.

The only "dimmer" I can think of in an S30 is the variable rheostat for the instrument panel lights. I suppose the easiest thing to do is to disconnect the relay to see what doesn't operate.

It's the 'Passing and Dimmer' (AKA 'Push to Pass') relay.

The momentary main beam switch is on the end of the indicator stalk. Press it and this relay will click if it's working (and you get headlight main beam flash).

Thanks for advising on that. I had worked out what some of the relays did, through my parts fiche, but other electrical assemblies remain elusive.

UK market factory service manual for the 260Z is invaluable in that respect. Lots of really helpful stuff regarding electrics in particular.

Wish the FSMs for the earlier cars were that comprehensive...

Thanks!

That covers it.

Does anyone have a copy of the FSM? I have loads of wiring diagrams I have downloaded as well as the Haynes manual but I could do with a 100! Accurate one to ensure nothing catches light as soon as I connect the battery!

Got a question on ths relay too. Is it only for the push to pass function or does it work as a low and high beam relay?

I ask because most owners do a headlight relay upgrade because there us none0 but no one ever mentions the existing relay.

I believe the main issue is that, even with this 'flasher' relay, the full load of the lights still goes through the light switch!
