Well my gearbox which I though was a FS5C71-B Uk 5 speed actually isn't, as I found out when I stripped it down to replace the 2nd synchro. It's a 5 speed alright, but has brass synchros. Now I'm not sure what it is, so would appreciate any help to identify what it is from.

Also, are the brass synchros the same throughout the range of boxes (from the US 4-speed through to the later 280ZX)? And if so, does anybody know the Nissan part number?

Many thanks in advance.

PS It appears I will soon have some very expensive and hard to come by new steel synchros and brake bands surplus to requirements...

Prob fs5w71b, that's the likely original 2 piece box from a uk s30.
Waits to be corrected......

It's quite likely to be an FS5W71-B if it has brass (actually Bronze alloy) synchros.

Watch out (bit late now....) for confusion and misinformation with the 4-speeds and part-sharing with the 5-speeds. Tricky subject.

I've got all the original part numbers if you need any help with them.

Hi Al. Yes I would much appreciate a copy of the gearbox schematic and associated part numbers if you could send me them when you have a moment. EMail is still MisterSCobb@aol.com.
