Start of a new adventure

Well this sunday sees the start of a new adventure for the girls in the Z. We are going to different venues this season to give them more experience and chance to drive some faster venues.

It all starts on Sunday at Abingdon on the long course which looks fun.

If you are in the area and want to come along to support the girls then the gates are open till 8am Sunday. No admission after that. Burger vans on site

Why don't they let anyone in after 8am? And is there any background to the girls? Are they 50 - or 18? Your daughters, friends, grandmas? I really have no idea - I'd do a search on here for girls but the missus might get the wrong idea!

Apologies, but we've not all been here since the year dot!

Hmm got to be the Tw*t Post of the Year, a simple search of Ben's posts would have quickly lead you to the story.

Ben, I hope it all goes well, variety is the spice of life ......and speed eventing ;) Just started my daughter on autotesting, plus she has the pleasure of sitting with me on Lanes Rallies, so am also slowly stepping into the Team Manager/ Financier role

My daughters Hannah and Steph now drive the car. They have been hill climbing for about 5 years now and for the last year been driving the Z

I don't know why the gates are locked at 8am as this is the first time I have been to the venue.

Next meeting will be 13th 14th May at Wiscombe Park nr Honiton. Normal spectator access for that event

Okay thanks, a little more background in the opening post would have sufficed ... instead our Irish friend dives in name-calling for some reason, all totally uncalled for tbh.

It might be in Abingdon, but where?

My experience with airfield based sprints is that they really aren't set up for spectating and you will likely find yourself stuck in the paddock with not a lot to see. You certainly cant wander off to different parts of the course and entry to the event often involves you traversing part of the course. Hence the 'be there by 8am' and after that entry and exit will be very limited.

Cheers Mike, Team manager has it's own benefits and rewards. There is a rumour that I will be sharing the car with Hannah in June at a meeting.

One day I hope to be able to bring it back over to Craigantlet and kirkiston but that is a big holiday:cheers:

Cheers Jon, I have had so much support from the girls that it is easy to give them the chance to drive the Z as payback. They are both very aware of the history of the car and how much it means to me. But it is a race car so I would rather trust them to play in it than have it sat in a garage collecting dust

Well what a fantastic event that was. 2 miles round the course. Even at the furthest point I could still hear the Z engine howling as Hannah quickly got to grips with the course and chance to get some speed both on the straights and the fast corners. She lent on the tyres more and more and got to trust the brakes so by the end of the day she posted a time of 2 min 6 seconds. Compare that to my time of 2 mins 3 seconds in Dee's Mgf and it shows how well she is getting on with the car and how quickly she learns a new course. Steph did a 2 min 12 sec but struggled to learn the course as quickly but given another couple of events there she will be getting quicker.

Sounds like you and your girls are having a cracking time! Have you got any pics or video to share? Would love to see them if there are.

Hear hear! If only everyone had this sentiment towards classics
