Can someone advise, what the 240z was originally supplied with key wise? When I bought my car it was only supplied with one set of keys. They included the original (I think) ignition key and a separate (original) fuel cap key. I had the door looks replaced and now (unfortunately) I have two more keys one for each door!

Obviously, I want to improve the situation and of course get a duplicate set of keys. As a matter of interest are original Nissan pattern/blank keys available?

Well on my 260Z I have a door key which opens both doors, the tailgate and the filler cap and an ignition key. So two keys in total! I was fortunate in that my car came with two spare sets! I don't know the answer to the Nissan blanks question and can't see how you will solve your problem if you now have two different door locks and a different filler cap!

There are authentic blanks on ebay for Datsun both here in the UK and USA/AU.

No particular help to you given you location but I got may own spare set from a key-cutter stall in Warrington indoor market. The guy there has has the stall for a vrey long time and carries a fairly comprehensive range of key blanks for classic cars (himself a car enthusiast). Think I paid around £3.50 per key (both the door and the ignition) including cutting. The message being that you may be surprised just what some of these long-established key cutters, perhaps in your own part of the world, have in stock.

I've just ordered a couple of sets of the below blanks for the USA for mine, these are the correct key for an earlier production car. They're on the way at the moment.

As said above I also just have one ignition key and then one more more for both doors and rear hatch. No idea if that's meant to be the same key for the glovebox as well.... Hope this assists in some way.

Ignition Barrel

Embarrassing day yesterday, managed to blag a trip to the Ford Heritage Centre, so thought I'd take the Datsun our for a decent run before putting it away.

Gets safely on site, goes to start the car and the key snapped in the barrel, with no tools on board

The guys in the centre were great and sorted got me going but I need a new barrel. Anyone any ideas where I can source one and some keys?

Anyone know where I could get a replacement ignition barrel?

You see them come up on eBay all the time.

I snapped a key in my door lock and was amazed how easy it was to get the broken bit out using watch screw drivers.

So you not have a spare ignition key you can get copied if you can pull the broken bit out of the barrel!?

I've tried but no joy, might need some more disassembly. I do have a spare key but it might be time to swap it out for one that'd not showing 40+ years of use.

Just put Datsun Ignition Lock into eBay and you will get a whole list of options from new old stock to Thailand reproduction. I have one of the Thai ones as a spare.

i have some ignition barrel blanks somewhere.
i bought a set of 5 blanks for a few quid off ebay.
if i can find them i can post them to you guys needing them if you want to pay postage?
alternatively these blanks fit mazda and hyundai too so maybe some blanks could be sourced elsewhere if youre struggling

before i forget mine is 260z in case that makes a difference?
