Price to buy and maintain, the Z32 has to be a winner (I don't know enough about the Toyota to 'vote' but the Honda is an expensive car to buy AND run - had a mate with one....) !

OMG..a z32 that isn't swamped with fibreglass add ons! Must be a first.

From an investment perspective NSX gets my vote.

Explain please how paying a massive lump sum now for one of those is a profitable 'investment' ?

My vote is for the fun factor NOW which doesn't explode your bank account against the potentiel later to sell for what it's cost you during ownership or more.

£5k Z32 et vroom !

Cheaper than a staid '70s saloon-car at any rate.

And we wonder why there are not many Z32 owners on here
You would all be surprised about the Number of Z32s around that are not "swamped with Fibreglass add ons"
There is as much a debate about modified-v-unmodified elsewhere as here

I'm just glad they see the z32 300zx as a classic now :) By the way out of all the cars they like the 911 the best and the 300zx is wayyyyyy down there list.

Sorry Steve but I am just stating what I see and hopefully not being offensive. Most of the z32 traffic that has passed on this site and others has had cars that were massively modified and not shy of using FRP bodykits and bold colours.

I could equally say that s30's are swamped with minilites/slotmags and aftermarket carbs etc. OEM spec s30's are a rare breed....

In the end, one man's food is another's poison so it would be boring if everything was the same

Even though the NSX is already quite expensive, I believe it will increase in worth . It's acknowledged as a fine handling supercar. Should Honda release the replacement anytime soon, then interest in the model is going to generate once again and like with all new versions, folk tend to reminisce about the original. Hence in my book it's the one that will appreciate the most and from an investment perspective the one to buy. This is on the assumption that funds are available:smash:

Next one would be the Supra. Again finding unmodified examples isn't easy and they are already changing hands at strong values. I understand that we are looking at upwards of US$30k in states. And the US market tends to influence prices. The recent eligibility of R32 as imports has almost doubled their worth as suddenly the US market wants them. The recent auction of the KPGC10 for > US$200k has probably had some affect on forecourt prices in Japan:confused:

Sadly I don't agree with you on the Z32 for investment gain. They appear to be suffering the same fate as the Z31's and their earlier cousins...probably in the long term when the poor examples have been chopped up and only tidy pristine cars are left do I anticipate growth. That doesn't detract that they are a fine car but we are talking investment growth.

But like you said Sean, what do I know:rolleyes:...I mean why would anyone want to buy a 4 door 70's saloon over a technical heavyweight twin turbo zed:unsure:

a) read carefully, I NEVER mentioned buying a Z32 as an investment !!!:p I said buy and enjoy one now for pocket money - any investment will need to keep the mileage down which (to me) is completely against the role of such a car.

It's like not having sex with your girlfirend to pass her on to tthe next bloke !

Best buy means buying now to play with it so stuff the investment angle - if you had £30k to invest, their are other things with more return and frankly, most likely not a car !

Bang for buck - the Z32......if you really want some fun - sneak in an R33 (cheap also) but for me it'd be an R32 if I could afford to drive it like I stole it.....and I can't so I'll stick with my 240Z and you stick with your other saloons.

Do tell...I mean what does £30k buy? Certainly not property ( well in UK anyway:smash:) so not sure what else offers better return ( assuming risk remains proportional)

I agree with the R32/33 sentiments above. ..for now I will stick with my saloons:driving:

£4k gets an e36 m3

£14k for a decent uk supra, low running costs, reliable, prices only going one way.

The others I judge like some old motorbikes I use to have, they might increase more in value, year on year, however they cost you 400% more to maintain therefore actually increasing less in cash in-out terms.

Thats where a nice 240z does it, once the body is sorted they're reliable and cheap to run.

Well said Steve.
As a Z32 owner and member on 300ZX.co.uk its the attitude typified by Datsfun but held by others that stops me ever posting anything about my car on here.
The Z club in reality, as measured by number of posts/threads etc, has turned in to an S30 club.
Im not saying thats a bad thing so lets not have a stream of indignant S30 owners jumping on me. And Im not singling Datsfun out either. Live and let live.

Yes Pete you're right and that's obvious to me too when I record details for the 'Z Club members'. However I reckon it's best to let the Club naturally evolve - no point it forcing anything.

Z32 - I've thought about one of those to get the rear 'grandkids' seats. This weekend I'm having to use my son's car. However to change my 370Z 'daily car' that I've owned and treasured from almost new for a 300ZX is a big 'call'. I would want a low mileage, low owner standard car too.

NSX - we have a member with one and I've seen it, immaculate but not used much.

Exactly so. I was merely commenting on the situation as I see it.There was no criticism implied or intended.
We had some good times in Heart of England group back in the day. The 21st century has seen many changes and evolutions.
Interesting that your more solid stats back up my "perception".
