Hopefully this is ok in this section............but this is something else that is happening in the background :)

This how it started its life:-

Came with a 2l pinto engine:-

Interior was mostly decent:-

Exterior wise, it was not as good as it looks, the paint work had a bad reaction and had developed air bubbles or water spots, so knew it would be a strip down and rebuild. No rust, but 1 or 2 things to sort out. Didnt like the ****** wings that the previous owner had selected and have been waiting for new Magnum reproduction wings to come into stock (happened last night - so ordered).

Interior wise, dash needed to be replaced and will done once its back from the bodyshop.

This is what it looks like now:-

And then finally, this is what I am aiming for once finished.......... albeit without the bubble arches - I am still not sure whether I actually like them:-

Iook's great ! I do like a mk 1

A good friend of mine has a Black RS2000 and we often go out for a blast in the Welsh mountains in the summer months, Last time we went I had my '65 912 and they were pretty evenly matched and we both ran out of brakes at the same time and had to stop for a cup of tea to let them cool down,

He came round my workshop last weekend and told me he has now put Mikuni bike carbs on his pinto to give it a better change against my 240z when its finished, I wonder how they will fair against each other in the mountains :) ,.........

And I haven't told him about the L28 I'm building either ;)

Awesome...... RS2000 would be great! But I want too many cars to blow that much on a single one :)

Sounds like some good runs..... miss driving in the Welsh mountains, roads of Surrey cant quite compare.

I've always loved the mk1 mexico/rally style with the big arches. Way cool in my book

We had a mk1 when I was a kid, sadly it wasn't a mexico, just a bog standard mk1.

Looks lovely.

My mk2:

I've now spent a year building up the 1.6 engine and spent far too much money. Hoping to get 200bhp out of it

Some lovely Escorts there guys!

Madda - that looks lovely. 200 bhp from 1.6

Yup a Toyota 4AGE, the jap BDA :p

Spec so far, not mapped yet, so not sure whether she'll make the magic 200.

Cat Cams - : 291°285°
Cat Cam springs
Cat Cam retainers
ARP bolts
Wossener Pistons - off stefan. 11.8cr 19mm rod bolts
ACL Race Main Rod Bearings
Port matching, 7 angle valve seats, new everything and polishing of the head
Later spec engine from ae92 - from Stefan
Engine work - South Wales Pistons
Bush change in rods - South Wales Pistons
Big Rad
Spal fan
Lightweight bottom pulley

If it makes good power the final piece of the puzzle will be a dry sump kit.

Some lovely Escorts here. Still fancy a MK1 or MK2 myself at some point.

My B16B in my 91 Civic made 197hp and revved to 9000rpm, you can get 220+ from a built B16B. Was a great engine, now running a 250hp 2L b series which is great but I still miss the more revvy nature of the 1.6.
