Regardless, is he the Z Reg Albrecht? Did I just commit a sin in that sentence and need to go meditate on mount Fiji to cleanse my spirit?

They contacted me actually and I suggested they try the Z Register. I wasn't happy with the 'press' after my Classic Car Weekly experience. Also they want you to do all the work and they get paid!

I suggested in this day and age the best advice for anyone wanting to buy a car is to join a club, learn from members and then discuss specific cars for sale.

Books are great for reference and history/development of a car but if you are thinking of buying a car you need to see it, take someone with you who knows them from experience and drive it if poss.

I actually said that you wouldn't find a wife from reading about women in a book.

Perhaps I was a bit strong.

ROFLMAO - utterly brilliant Rob! I tried that for years!!!!

On a more serious note though, the classic and sports car thing left me feeling a little less enthusiastic too. Despite all the fan fare and promises before the photoshoot, when I asked for 6 copies of the magazine for my time, I was told to go buy them. But I didn give up and they did eventually concede. I never heard about paying my expenses either.

I do feel they are a little too self absorbed and forget the fact that people put personal time in; if nothing else a symbolic gesture keeps them supporting the magazines.

This time, its not! I thought we had the marque expert?

As a side note, whats the classic Z register like? Is it a magazine based club?

From what little I know, I think they are more into the purity / originality of S30s and less into the mods etc. I only know of them though their FB presence.

But here's a good read ...

The 260Z started production in August 1973, the first arriving in Britain in January 1974.

My old 260Z (Uk car) was very early then as it was registered in January 1974!

Datsun had produced the 1600/2000 open sports car (similar to the MGB)

The early Zs were expensive in the UK.......and as a result they never sold as well as they did in the US where they were a huge success.

Production continued until August 1978 when it was replaced by the Datsun 280ZX.

The Z models are great looking cars which live up to their sporty image especially if lowered and fitted with alloy wheels

260Z was available in 2+2 form and is a lovely car in its own right

This is rather unfortunate, this car was posted on here and on some of the larger Facebook groups and we all instantly proved it was likely a scam.

How do you stand with getting your money back?

I’m I’m trying but with very little success. Initially, he sent me a bankers note from the bank, however nothing was transferred. I’ve tracked down that there is no garage at that location, having called local businesses in the area and asking them for local knowledge. I had the sellers Potigese ID card, Passport and even a video of him showing me the car. I have learnt a very very expensive lesson. Talentos CCDA are still running their webpage. Just be careful guys, unlike myself. Vulnerable having just lost my mum and having an inheritance in which she told me to get myself a 240z.
Just be wise guys.

Nigel in hindsight this might have saved your very unfortunate situation.

What I need to understand is why your contact details for the seller and bank account details can't be used to trace them.
